Project objectives :

1. Understand the molecular protein-protein interactions of platelet receptors with their ligands during hemostasis under flow conditions

2. Identify hookworm proteins that have an inhibitory effect on (a) human blood hemostasis and coagulation, and (b) on the human immune system

Project outcome :

Over 100 papers published by the network, of which 30 joint publications between network members

Identification and characterization of 3 Hookworm proteins that have an inhibitory effect on blood hemostasis and the immune system :

a collagen binding protein that inhibits platelet adhesion to collagen a factor Xa inhibitor that blocks the coagulation cascade a protein homologous to calreticulin that inhibits C1q of the complement

system
