Two’s a Crowd and RAW Africa Ecotours are proud to once again join forces to bring you an extraordinary solos-only tour to amazing Africa. RAW Africa Ecotours is a leading Eco Adventure tour operator, know for taking the road less travelled meeting exotic wildlife and extraordinary communities as they go.

Nothing is as truly wild and RAW as Kenya, home to the Maasai and some of the most unique wildlife in East Africa.

Our adventure begins in the Maasai Mara National Reserve, located in the south west corner of Kenya. The Mara is a part of the great Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, named in honour of the Maasai people as their ancestral home.

We’ll also visit the famous Sheldrake Elephant Orphanage in Nairobi. We’ll view bird life from the treetops on a canopy walk, camp under the stars and listen to the roars of distant lions.

We’ll meet the community of Il Ngwesi and learn about traditional Maasai life. Our time in Kenya ends at the Il Ngwesi Conservancy’s five star lodge set into the cliffs of one of Laikipia District’s most stunning valleys, where elephants, antelope and monkeys come to drink at the water hole.

Next we head to Uganda, home to magnificent mountains, unique wildlife, cultures and communities. Trek to see the famous Mountain Gorillas of Bwindi Forest, meet and experience the culture of the Batwa people, canoe on Lake Mutanda and climb the volcanic hills around the town of Kisoro.

That’s 21 days of raw adventure under an incredible African sky.

Will you join us on this amazing trip of a lifetime?

HELP SUPPORT PEOPLE & WILDLIFE BY BUYING BEADS!In northern Kenya, wildlife competes with livestock for grazing and water. Il Ngwesi Conservancy and our partner tour operator, RAW Africa Ecotours support Maasai women to earn a sustainable income through selling their beautiful beaded products. Purchase a piece of beadwork and you’ll help decrease reliance on livestock for income, and support people and wildlife at the same time. www.ilngwesi.com

SAFETY AND SECURITYThe safety and security of our clients is our number one priority at all times. While travelling throughout Kenya and Uganda, here are the steps we take to make your journey as smooth and hassle free as possible:

• All transfers are private—we don’t use shared transfers for our clients

• The hotels we use in Nairobi are very secure and located in quiet suburban locations—outside the CBD

• Our guides are all locals (not flown in from other countries) so they are very well connected with local communities and law enforcement agencies. Even the slightest security concerns can be acted upon quickly by, for example, changing the itinerary

• We do not venture near areas bordering countries to the north such as Somalia and South Sudan

• Our campsites are very carefully chosen for their safe and secure locations

• Once we leave Nairobi we are joined by a government ranger who travels with the group throughout

• Other hotels in Kenya and in Uganda have been selected for their reputation of being safe and secure

IL NGWESI 5 STAR LUXURY LODGE

Constructed entirely out of local materials, the award winning 5 Star Il Ngwesi Lodge is perched on the edge of the Mararoi hills close to the Ngare Ndare river in Laikipia District in Kenya, with breathtaking views towards Samburu as far as the eye can see. Designed by Simon du Fresne, six spacious rooms or banadas accommodate up to four people. For Two’s a Crowd travellers everyone has their own banda. Each one offers a slightly different experience, being either tucked away with views up the valley, adjoined to another by rope bridge , or overlooking the watering hole. All are designed in an ‘open to the bush’ style with opportunities for viewing wildlife, and two have extended verandas. All beds are equipped with mosquito nets.

The main house offers spectacular views to the north and east as well as down to the water hole while the swimming pool area overlooks the valley and provides an excellent spot to relax in during the day. The water hole – fed by pipes from a nearby spring – attracts a wide variety of birds and animals daily and is the life blood for wildlife in this semi-arid part of Kenya. A hide tucked down the hillside in front of the lodge allows visitors to get closer to the water hole and enjoy the bush in utter peace and quiet.

Il Ngwesi is the only lodge in Kenya wholly owned by the local Masai community. It was also the choice of Prince William and Princess Kate!

All meals are freshly prepared by Lodge chefs on site and beer and wine is included.
