From the Vicar’s Desk

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

First of all let me wish you all a newness in life in the name of risen Christ who makes everything new irrespective of our ups and downs. He invites us all to have a fresh beginning as He did with disciple Pe-ter, Thomas and others. Christ would have restored even Judas if he would not have committed suicide. After resurrection the redeemer spent forty days and appeared seven times for Recalling, Reinforcing and Re-commissioning. Jesus says ‘nothing is beyond repair, recovery, redemption, reconciliation and restoration’. This is what the ‘Gospel of the Gospel’ (Lk.15) has to say. Immanuel is there with us to do everything for a fresh beginning. When we fail God gives us another chance to mark a new beginning.

The Christian Churches celebrate ‘Ascension Day’, on the 40th day after resurrection. This year it falls on May 31. Though Ascension accounts are very few in the Bible (Mk.16:19-20, Acts. 1: 9 -11) it is central to our faith. It was the fulfillment of God’s salvific plan. We affirm his ascension and second coming through the Nicene creed. If Advent was a journey to the limits of age, time and space, Ascension was a journey to beyond the limits of age, time and space. While He was in physical body, only a few could experience His presence. It was God’s plan that His presence should be experienced by everybody all over the world. Because God so loved the world (Jn.3:16). Hence Ascension was inevitable, so that everybody could experience His spiritual presence. Moreover, when He was in His physical body His place was ‘outside our body’ but now He could be ‘inside our body’ with His spiritual body. Thank God, today He lives in our hearts! Since He abides in us with His invisible body, now we experience the invisible strength that is stronger than the visible strength. Do we the experience this? If not let us invite Christ to dwell in our hearts permanently. He is there at the door (Rev.3:20).

I appreciate the Yuvajana Sakhyam members for their compassion and enthusiasm for doing a memora-ble event “Kaarunya Sparsham” (Touch of Mercy). We could do two heart valve replacement surgeries in collaboration with St. Thomas Mission Hospital, Kattanam, Kerala. Yuvajanasakhyam is planning to lend its helping hands to at least 3 more poor and needy heart patitents and thus to renew their hope in life.

Sevikasangam is honoring the nurses who served in United States for 25 years and more. This is a ges-ture of love and recognition. The Church value the contributions and sacrificial life of them.

We are celebrating Mother’s day on 12th Sunday. Abraham Lincoln, the former president of United States rightly said that, “No man is poor if he has got a Godly mother”. There is noting like a mother’s love. Let us thank God for our Mothers.

The theme for our silver jubilee is, “Reflect, Renew & Reachout”. Let us reflect on the Word of God, Renew in the light of Word of God and Reachout as commanded in the Word of God.

May God continue to bless Immanuel Family.

CAKE DECORATION COMPETITIONSevikasangam is organizing Cake Decorating Competition on June 8th, at 10.30 am. as the part of our church’s Jubilee celebration. Best design will be used for the Ju-bilee cake. Criteria and Rules will be published later. A talent show will be conducted at the same time.
