In addition, the gearmotors are assumed to be standard versions with standard lubrication and under normal ambient conditions. Please note that the motor torques shown in the selection tables for gearmotors is subject to selection. However, the output torque for the desired output speed is essential for the application and needs to be checked. Noise levels The noise levels of all SEW servo gearmotors and servomotors are well within the maximum permitted noise levels laid down by the VDI guideline 2159 for gear units and EN 60034 for motors. Coating The servo gear units, synchronous servomotors and servo gearmotors from SEW- EURODRIVE will be coated as follows: Special coatings are available on request. Weights Please note that all weights shown in the catalog exclude the oil fill for the gearmotors. The weight varies according to gear unit design and gear unit size. The lubricant fill is dependent on the mounting position, and consequently it is impossible to make any generally valid statements. Please refer to "Lubricants" in the "Design and Operating Notes" section for recommended lubricant fill quantities depending on the mounting position. Use this paste in accordance with the information in the gearunit operating instructions. It simplifies service work and removal of the unit.NOCO® fluid is food grade according to USDA-H1. You can tell that NOCO® fluid is afood grade oil by the USDA-H1 identification label on its packaging.

Brake motors On request, motors and gearmotors can be supplied with an integrated mechanicalbrake. The SEW-EURODRIVE brake is an electromagnetic disk brake with a DC coilthat releases electrically and brakes using spring force. The design principle means thebrake is applied if the power fails. This means it complies with fundamental safetyrequirements. The brake is activated by a brake control system housed either in thewiring space of the motor or in the control cabinet.A significant feature of the brakes is their very short length. The brake bearing end shieldis a part of both the motor and the brake. The integrated construction of the SEW-EURODRIVE brake motor permits particularly compact and sturdy solutions.

International markets

SEW-EURODRIVE is a member of the AGMA (American Gear Manufacturer�s Associ-ation), and as such, all its gear units and gearmotors conform to AGMA specifications.We supply motors for connection conditions according to CSA and NEMA standards onrequest (registered with UL).For the Japanese market, we offer motors conforming to JIS (Japan IndustrialStandard). Contact your sales representative to assist you in such cases.

2.2 Description of servo gear units

General nformation

BSF.. helical-bevel servo gear units are two-stage gear units for applications in servotechnology. They consist of a helical gear stage at the input and an axially shiftedhelical-bevel gear stage at the output. The housings are made in one part and standardequipment includes B5 retaining flanges at the output. The BSF.. helical-bevel servogear units can be mounted to the foot or face side in an optional design. The gear unitsare available with four different output shaft designs.

The PSF.. planetary servo gear units are single and two-stage planetary gear units.They are used in servo technology applications as well. The housings come equippedwith B5 retaining flanges at the output as standard. The gear units are available with twodifferent output shaft designs.

Direct motor mounting

The new servo gearmotors from SEW-EURODRIVE make it possible to mount servogear units directly to the synchronous servomotors from SEW-EURODRIVE without anadapter. These integrated servo gearmotors offer shaft-hub connections that are allpositive and free from backlash.

Motor mounting Use the modular motor adapters to connect all other commercial servomotors in asimple and time-efficient manner to the servo gear units from SEW-EURODRIVE.

2.3 Characteristics of the SEW-EURODRIVE servo gear units

Low backlash and positioning accuracy

The optimum gearing geometry paired with highest precision of the manufacturedcomponents and careful assembly make for low circumferential backlash. The BSF..helical-bevel servo gear units and the PSF.. planetary servo gear units ensure a lowcircumferential backlash even in their standard designs. The circumferential backlashcan be further reduced for all types and even minimized for PSF.. planetary servo gearunits. Circumferential backlash will remain constantly low for the entire gear unit life dueto the wear-free operating performance and high-endurance design of the runninggears.

Extensive ratio range with fine graduation

All ratios from i=3 to i=100 are integers and finely graduated. This means the gear unitsare particularly suited to applications in controllers in which it is important to havedivisible resolution values in terms of encoder increments.

Low noise All external gearing components are ground, which ensures low noise development inall speed ranges.

Reliability, longevity and low maintenance

The high reliability of servo gear units from SEW-EURODRIVE in the system is ensuredby the use of high-strength materials, high-quality anti-friction bearings, long-lived oilseals and synthetic lubricants.

High overload capacity

Exactly matched components as well as backlash-free and positively connected driveelements ensure that highest torques can be transferred and that large axial and radialforces can be absorbed.

Compact and lightweight structure

The high power density allows for integrating the gear stages in a compact, single-partand extremely solid cast housing of small dimensions.

Torsionally rigid The special design of SEW-EURODRIVE servo gear units in conjunction with large shaftdiameters ensures high torsional rigidity.
