Original Digipak Photos Original Digipak Photos

I was originally going to use images from our actual video; for example the images above, but when I put the images in the digipak the quality decreased. So I asked Hayley to take some pictures at home which she did and then uploaded them to her photobucket site, which meant we all had access to the pictures. You can also see from the picture on the right that I experimented with different filters using Photoshop.

Digipak ExplainedDigipak ExplainedThe image on the front cover of the digipak was taken by Hayley on a digital camera; which was then edited on the photo editing site www.picnik.com, most of the text on the digipak was also made using the text feature on the same website. The inside left and right covers have the lyrics of some of the tracks from the album including the lyrics for my video.

The cartoon image of the pirate and the gypsy was made by me adding the pirate skull into the gypsy’s crystal ball, and the text was added using the text in Photoshop CS3. I decided to use this image as the digipak wasn’t eye catching as none of the images were in colour. To make sure that all sides of the digipak were linked together I made a separate background, using a small section from the image of Hayley playing guitar on the bed after it had been edited.

Advert ExplainedAdvert Explained

I looked at a number of different adverts before creating our advert and there was one that I really liked and so I decided to use this for inspiration. I put the front cover of the digipak on the advert, but I gave it a thick black outline in order to distinguish it from the background of the advert. I put the name of the album in all capitals and used the same font as on the actual digipak, I made the font bigger in order for it to stand out on the page. Not only does it feature a quote from a reliable source and carry the HMV logo, but it also tells the audience what format of the album they can purchase.

I feel that the combination of our main product and ancillary text are very effective, I think this because the main image used in our digipak are very similar to a number of scenes in my media product.
