2 Peter 1:8-9
“For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they render you
neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus
Christ. For he who lacks these qualities is blind or short-sighted, having forgotten his
purification from his former sins.”
Do Not Forget Your Purification

Ephesians 6:10-13 ( NKJV ) 10Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11Put on the
whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood,
but against principalities, against powers, against
the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in
the heavenly places. 13Therefore take up the whole armor of God,
that you may be able to withstand in the evil day,
and having done all, to stand.

Conclusion
The church is not a social club.
The church is about reconciliation with God through repentance of sin.
Elders are to shepherd the flock to help prevent and overcome sin.
Instruction, doctrine, reproof, discipline – all with that one purpose.
