Sample insights from Farmer app usage analytics:
Observation: 93% of farmers using Arecanut app in in Karwar and Dakshina kannada looked at ‘Root grub’ more than 6 times during June. It shows highest correlation with rain fall with correlation coefficient (R=0.9). Insight: High probability that Root grub insect erupted in those districts.
Observation: 96% of farmers in Gokak, Athani, Raibag, Bilahongala taluks of Belgaum are looking only at Sugarcane app when they download! Its also evident from search words and hits Insight : Information gap to adopt other crops. (possibly inertia to grow other crop)
Observation: Thousands of farmers in inland district showing interest towards maze app may be because of monsoon delay. Insight: There is high probability of crop shift towards maze this year across the state except costal and southern districts.
Sample insights from Farmer app usage analytics:
Observation: 68% of Pomegranate app users seems to be going for ‘crop-pruning’ in May (Brugabahar) which gives flowering in June-July. Insight: There is high probability of Pomegranate crop suffering from bacterial blight this year with onset of monsoon. This in turn impacts on pomegranate export this year.
Observation: Chitradurga, Bellary and Koppal district farmers are highest downloaders of Pomegranate app. Several farmers who has horticulture apps started using Goat farming apps. Insight: There is high probability that Bellary, Chitradurga & Koppal farmers may start goat farming in coming years.
Observation: Fertilizer calculation seems to be major challenge for most of the farmers. 46% of calls received at call center requested assistance to calculate fertilizer dose. Insight: 99.7% of farmers unaware of Fertilizer calculation practice in Karnataka alone. Farmers apply whatever fertilizer they get in societies or from lenders instead what suppose to be applied.
