Choosing the right Tent...

The Royal range of tents primarilycaters for two main types ofcamping;

Family Breaks andShort weekend breaks.Family BreaksFamily tents typically have multiple sleeping areasfor all the family and the Royal select range haveeither sewn-in or zipped-in groundsheets tomaximise comfort and flexibility when using the tent.Short Breaks/Weekenders:Weekender tents tend to be smaller and morelightweight than family tents although there size canvary depending on the number of people it sleeps.

Type of TentThere are various different styles of tents availablewithin the Royal range but the majority of these aremade up of either Dome tents or tunnel tents. Tunneltents are usually straightforward to pitch and tend tobe more spacious and give more head room. Theyare, however, less stable and will need to be guyedout fully even in good weather. Many of our largertunnel tents such as the Bordeaux 6 have internalbracing straps and extra poles running down thesides of the tent to give them more stability.Dome tents are a good compromise betweenstability, pitching time and weight. Dome tents,however, tend to have less overall head room, theirhighest point being located only at one point in thecentre. This will vary depending on the size of tent.For example our Tampa range (available in 4 and 6berth) has plenty of headroom and also a large sidecanopy to keep your tent dry when entering in badweather.

WaterproofingThe majority of our tents are made from polyesterand have a PU (polyurethane) coating to make themwaterproof. The level of waterproofing is measuredin Hydrostatic Head (sometimes referred to as theWater Column). The higher the hydrostatic head themore waterproof the material and the longer thewaterproof coating will last. Our Select range oftents all have a Hydrostatic head of 3000mm.

Before you buy...

Before you purchase a tent it is important toconsider how you will use it and what your needswill be. Some important features to consider are:• Living space• Type of poles• No of Bedrooms and Storage areas• Groundsheet type

Living SpaceThe living space in tents can vary dramatically and itis important to think about how you will use yourspace, it may just be used for storage or it could beused as a living and dining area. Many of our tentsfeature storage pockets to help keep communal areastidy.

Bedrooms & StorageWhen choosing a tent it is important to choose alayout that works for your needs. Our Royal range oftents offer a number of different options whether itsone large sleeping area or individual bedrooms.Depending on the shape of the tent the individualbedrooms can be separated by a dividing wall, or bepositioned on opposite sides of the tent.

Make your Tent lastExposure to the elements can reduce thewaterproofing of your tent but if you follow thesepoints then you should be able to extend the life ofyour tent.Seal the seams regularly to ensure completewaterproofing and reproof the flysheet everyother year.Clean and dry the tent as thoroughly and as soon aspossible after use Erect and inspect the tent beforeuse, this allows you to discover any damage or wearbefore you are in the middle of nowhere and itbecomes a real problem.For waterproofing solutions speak to your localdealer about the range of Grangers productsavailable when purchasing your tent.

PolesThe type of poles used by a tent effects not only theweight but it also has an impact on its strength andrigidity. Steel poles are stronger and more rigid thanfibreglass poles, but will make the overall weightheavier which may also mean extra guy lines tosupport the tent. Fibreglass poles will make the tenta lot lighter when it is packed up and although not asstrong as steel poles will offer a very rigid tent whenerected.

GroundsheetsRoyal tents come with three different types ofgroundsheet:Pegged Down GroundsheetPegged down groundsheets are separate from theflysheet and as a result there will be lesscondensation in the tent. However a downside tothis type of tent is that there is less protection frominsects and drafts.Stitched in GroundsheetStitched in groundsheets can have more of a problemwith condensation and you should make sure thatany tent with a stitched in groundsheet has plenty ofventilation points. The benefits of a stitched ingroundsheet means that you get more protectionfrom insects and drafts.Zipped in GroundsheetMany of our select range of tents offer the option ofa zipped in groundsheet. This offers the best of bothworlds giving the user full protection against theelements but also giving the flexibility of removingthe groundsheet.To compare our range of tents side by side pleasesee our product table on page 24.

Easy Transport We have included more robust storagebags with wheels on our tents which arelarger and ultimately heavier to enableyou to transport them to your pitch withas little strain as possible

Mains Entry Point We have incorporated handy zippedaccess points to enable you to feed yourmains cable into the tent in the mostconvenient place within the tent whereyour power supply will be needed.

Repair Kit We have included a kit for you to repairany minor damages to your tent in theevent of an accident

Mesh Vented Door We have added a mesh layer to the tentdoor to enable you to open up the door toincrease air circulation and reducecondensation whilst leaving your tentinsect free

Multi Use Annexe To give you more storage we have added aside annexe onto the tent to use howeveryou want - Toilet or Shower facilities, BikeStorage, Wardrobe space, the list goeson....

Polyethylene Groundsheet Hard wearing and durable groundsheetsare used in our tents to give you greatercomfort underfoot whilst still being easyto clean when you come to pack away

Reflective Guy Ropes To reduce the trip hazard around yourtent we have added reflective guy ropeswhich illuminate in any form of lightmaking it easier to make your way aroundthe tent without falling

Ring & Pin System To enable you to form the tent structureeasily when threading poles through thepole sleeve we have incorporated pins tofit into the bottom of each pole which canbe tightened to form a rigid structure

Roof Light We have added roof lights into our largertents to allow more natural light to enterthen tent and brighter living areas whilstmaintaining your privacy. All of our rooflights have covers to enable you to shutout the light when not required.

Protected Zips Our zips all have double seamed covers asthey are the most used part of the tentand give additional protection for greaterpiece of mind

PVC Tarpaulin Our polycotton tents all come with aheavy duty PVC Tarpaulin groundsheetfor added durability and easy cleaning

Royal Tent & Awning Warranty...All of our tents are manufactured to the highest standard and arecovered by a 1 year warranty from the point of purchase.This warranty covers any manufacturing fault in thefabric, part or workmanship of our tents when theproduct has been used for its intended purpose asspecified in our literature or website.

It does not cover any malfunctions of fabric orcomponents that have occurred from improper use,poles, accidents, excessive wind or weather,incorrect packing, fading due to sunlight. Please bemindful your product will be subjected to some sortof "wear and tear" with the conditions experiencedoutdoors and the continual packing and un-packingof products.

As a guide the items not covered within thewarranty include:• General Wear and Tear• Damage caused by storms, wind or extremeweather conditions

• Fabric flaws caused by excessive wear• Leaking through fabric (this is normallycondensation on the inside of the fabric asopposed to a leak, which has usually been causedby a lack of ventilation)

• Leakage on fabric or seams, specifically onPolycotton tents, will not be covered unless theproduct is demonstrated to have been weatheredat least 3 times as this is fundamental to the tentfunctioning in the required manner

• Seams leaking as a result of excessive abrasion tothe seams or seam sealant tape

• Broken or damaged zips if caused by jamming,undue force or incorrect pegging

• Seams splitting or “coming apart” due tostretching or over tensioning

• Broken buckles due to undue force or abrasion• ALL pole breakages – these are regarded as“wear and tear” and will not break unless unduestress is placed on them

• Broken carry or roller bag due to overloading,incorrect packing or misuse

• Damage inflicted by a pole breakage e.g. rippedflysheet or pole sleeve

• Incorrect pitching or dismantling of the productresulting in damage

• Any damage occurred whilst cooking inside theproduct

• UV degradation• Commercial use by rental companies or use byyouth groups where the product has been usedextensively within a short space of time e.g.Scouts, Guides, DofE, BB

Our top-of-the-range awnings are manufactured using290g acrylic material, which come with a 5-year anti-fade guarantee. They are available in three colourcombinations; Marine Blue & Silver Grey, Claret Red &Silver Grey and Forest Green & Silver Grey.Our awning accommodates our Optional Annexe ateither side wall, making it extremely versatile whichallows you to have a separate bedroom and diningroom or two bedrooms – the choice is unlimited. Thefront can be removed entirely in two halves or you cansimply remove one half if needed. Our new zip fastening system makes this an easy, fastoperation. There is a secondary beading sewn into theawning to enable the roof poles to be positioned usingFixon pads anywhere along the top, thereby avoidingany caravan moulding obstruction. There are new colour co-ordinated curtains and themud-walls can be pegged on the outside.This is an outstanding awning that will give you yearsof pleasure and reliability.

Party Tent

The ideal solution for all your outdoor events. Ourparty tent marquees have an easy to assemble, 38mmdiameter steel frame with 46mm corner joints. Theframe easily slots together to form a robust structurewith legs that come complete with base plates that canbe pegged into soft ground or bolted to hard standingsurfaces if required. The roof and side walls then attachto the frame quickly and simply by using specialbungees.

The roof and walls are made from durable fire retardantUV stabilised PE material with 180gm side walls and240gm roof material. The tents come with end panelswhich have centre panels which can zip up at either endof the marquee and also a centred zip up door on eachside of the marquee. This means the tents are extremelyversatile and can also be used with or without the sidewalls and end panels.

Each model also comes complete with a ground bar kitwhich gives increased stability by providing a baseframe. This links together and attaches to the bottom ofeach of the side walls with bungees to create a rigidstructure with no flapping walls!

We recommend the use of our optional tie down kitsfeatured on page 35 in order to ensure the structure isstabilised.
