Best. Picture. EVER.  John and Elaina Richardson

Let’s face it. Running a foundation such as this can be challenging, and in manyinstances …well…depressing. HOWEVER…when I receive the joyous phone callsfrom people God blessed us to be able to help, it makes every tear and everyfrustration worth it.

On September 23, 2015, John Richardson was working for Surf Air Wireless, andwas severely injured. Instead of my relaying the information, take a look at anexcerpt from Elaina’s blog below.

“Many of you have not heard the full story of what happened to John. Iam going to try my best to describe the story accurately. September

23rd, 2015 John was working on a TV antenna tower with his brother Joel. They were replacing a section of tower and this particular job

requires two people. John climbed up the tower and hooked onto thetower with his harness he was wearing for safety precautions. Joel was

on the ground on a phone call with another employee. Joel heard ahumming/buzzing sound and glanced over his shoulder to catch the end

of John being electrocuted. It only lasted a brief moment. John fellback away from the electrical wires. Joel started yelling at which point

the customer came out of his house. Joel called 911 and the customer

climbed the tower to try to lift Johns head. Joel reached 911 and

dispatch said someone would be on their way. Joel then climbed thetower to help the customer hold John up. John was moaning and

groaning but was never conscious. The entire time John was movinghis arms, so Joel had to hold him against the tower to keep him from

coming in contact with the power lines again. When the EMT's and

police arrived, they were unsure of how to help get John down becausethey are not normally trained in tower rescues. The entire process of getting John down took a total of 30-45 minutes. Had Joel not been

there John wouldn't have survived.”

An emotional journey has followed, but in the wake of tragedy and uncertainty, acalmness and a determination has emerged. Never once in a phone conversationor correspondence have I detected even a hint of defeat. I am sure they have hadmoments, but their resilience and strength inspire us at Hubble Foundation inways we cannot even begin to describe. There is something to be learned fromevery challenge we face in life, and I think the Richardson’s have demonstrated

beautifully that being knocked down does not mean that you stay down. You getup, you face the challenge, and you utilize the resources and support that Godprovides. In Elaina’s words…

“It’s amazing to me that God has taken such good care of us. He hasbeyond provided for us and shown us time and again that He loves us

even when we are our most unlovable. He has continued to make surethat we are taken care of and showing us His love daily. He has used His

people to show us that nothing is impossible and we should never doubtthat He has our best interest at heart.”

We will continue to follow John and Elaina and bring you updates, but you canread your own updates or go back through and read all of their blogs listed here:

Remembering Matthew Vance

3 2 1978 9 25 2015

Matt Vance fell approximately 90 feet off of a structure in Lamar Township while working forComPros, Inc.

While we are still communicating with the family and working on the memorialpage, the family relayed to us that lived in Hollidaysburg, PA. He loved workingon towers; he loved his family, four wheelers, camping, and his dogs and wasknown for his huge bonfires.

Matthew married Britt M. Troutman on June 14, 2015, in Jamaica. Matt issurvived by his wife; his father; his mother, Lori Dodge and husband, Jim;grandfather, Earl Robert Dodge; two stepsons: Kaden and Parker; two sisters:

Nicole E. and fiancé Bryan Kostyrka and Jenifer Noel and husband, Dave/ twostepbrothers: Michael and Daniel Dodge; a niece, Emily; and four nephews: Josh,David “D.J.”, Cody, and Shawn.

His face says a thousand words and you can obviously tell that he had a smile thatwas contagious. We ask that you would continue to keep the family in yourprayers as they continue to navigate this time in their lives.
