We have the pleasure to invite you to the first OMICRON Power Grid Testing and Maintenance workshop taking place at the Matelec Factory in Lebanon.

We are proudly supported by Matelec Group, Butec Utility Services, Liban Cables, and Opal-RT Technologies.

As an international company that provides innovative solutions for power system testing and monitoring, we have a wealth of knowledge to share with you. This event will allow attendees to share knowledge and experiences with peers within our industry and experts from OMICRON. Our objective is to perfectly combine a high level of knowledge and expertise with a keen emphasis on practical break-out sessions in small groups and in a relaxed atmosphere.

Attendance Fee OMICRON Workshop, Lebanon: $ 150 per person

Cancellation / Substitution Policy

If you are registered for the event and it is not possible for you to attend, please inform us as soon as possible. We are happy to welcome a substitute participant if we receive prior notification. Ghassan Najem - Matelec Group

Rabih El Medawar - Butec Utility Services

Ghassan Najem graduated in 1996 with Masters in Mechanical Engineering from the Lebanese University. Ghassan joined the Matelec Group is 2000 and is currently Director for power transfomers division.

His achievements include working as Project Manager for power transfromers factory construction project, inventor for double patented self-protected distribution transformers, the two patents which are owned by Matelec and granted by the French National Institute of Intellectual Properties INPI. In addition, he has extensive experience in the fields of design, production, processes, machinery and raw material distribution and power transformers.

Tony Charbel received his Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from Lebanese University in 2004.

He joined Matelec in 2005 and is currently working as MV/LV design department manager with focus on switchgears, AVR control panels and MV/LV prefabricated substations.

His experience also includes working as Project Manager in Snecma Messier-Bugatti, research & development on telemecanique contactors in Schneider Electric and design and development of electronic AVR for controlling all types of Gensets in OGERO, Ministry of Telecommunications.

Rachel Asmar graduated in 2007 with Masters in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Lebanese University.

Shortly after attaining her Masters, she joined Liban Cables in 2007 as Technical & Quality Assurance Engineer and is currently working as Quality First Line Manger responsible for laboratory, cable testing and release.

She is also a Member of the International Safety Quality Environment Management Association.

Rabih El Medawar an Electrical Engineer, holds an MBA in management. Experienced in Operation & Maintenance of LV and MV Electrical Networks , in addition to assets testing and technical trainings.

Started with Butec Utility Services in 2012 and was part of the successful implementation of the Distribution Service Provider Project and the transformation of the distribution sector in Lebanon with the support of EDF expatriates.

Currently Manages the BUS Learning & Development department and is responsible of the development of Preventive Maintenance and Condition Based Testing Procedures and Plans.

Key Speakers

Simon Abourida is the Middle East Business Development Manager at OPAL-RT Technologies. He has a Master’s degree in electrical engineering from Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal (1994), and 20 years of experience in real-time simulation of electric systems.

At OPAL-RT, he led several projects of real-time hardware-in-the loop simulation in the fields of power systems, renewable energy systems, hybrid vehicles, motor drives and power electronics, and has organized multiple tutorials and seminars.

He is involved in project management, technology analysis, market research, business development and sales, in the area of real-time simulation and hardware-in-the-loop testing of dynamic systems mainly power systems and power electronics.

Anas Abdulkhader B.Tech from MITS Gwalior in 2007, M. Tech with specialization in ‘Condition Monitoring of Electrical Apparatus’ in year 2014, 5 year experience involved in activities like Preventive and Breakdown Maintenance of Electrical equipment like LT Motors, HT Motors, MCC, PCC, Transformers, 11kV and 22kV Switch boards, Generators etc. and in the capacity of Testing and commissioning engineer in Reliance Industries Limited.

Presently working in OMICRON Energy Solutions private limited as Regional Application Specialist.

Mohamed Ibrahim Ali - OMICRON electronics Middle East

Simon Abourida - OPAL-RT Technologies

Mohamed Ibrahim Ali has worked for OMICRON since July 2015 and provides technical and application support on primary and secondary testing and diagnostic substation equipment.

He conducts theoretical and practical training courses and also troubleshoots technical problems for customers.

He finished his BSC degree in Electrical Engineering in 2002 and his high post graduate studies (Diploma in Electrical Power Engineering) in 2007.
