The wind and rain on Thursday and Friday before the tournament made it extremely difficult to pre-fish. Trying to scan ledges for bass on Thursday was almost useless for me as I had several large waves roll over my bow and both of my bilge pumps were working overtime. The tropical storm that was in the south east dumped several inches of rain on Friday and only allowed for a few intermittent hours of fishing. The fishing seemed to be pretty slow on Saturday and many anglers reported struggling to find a ledge bite or a shallow water bite. Sunday the wind calmed down which made ledge fishing much easier. On Sunday, 19% more fish were weighed in than Saturday even with 1 hour less fishing time. There was an early morning top-water bite but you had to be in the right place at the right time to capitalize on it. Of the 6 spots paid out, 4 of them reported catching their fish on ledges. Several large fish were caught with 9 fish over 4 pounds being brought to the scales. The larges was a 5.73 pounder caught on a top-water spook.

Dean caught a limit on Saturday with two fish weighing over 4 pounds (4.75 and 4.18). Bob caught a 4.02 pound bass on Sunday. Together they nearly brought 40 pounds of bass to the scales and beat out 2nd place by over 13 pounds. Congratulations Bob & Dean!!!

Thomas Langanke weighed in his first tournament bass with the Hawg Hawlers on Sunday weighing 1.44 pounds! His father Scott was elated. There is nothing better than fishing with your son or daughter and watching the excitement in their eyes when a big bass is on the other end of their line. A big THANK YOU is warranted to all Hawg Hawler members who have taken their kid out as their tournament partner. It is something we all would like to see more of and exactly what the Hawg Hawlers bass Club is about.
Congratulations Thomas!!!
We are all very proud of you.

Hawg Hawlers Fish Fry @ Millers Motor Lodge. The event is free for all those
who attend. It will be on Saturday afternoon/evening after the tournament. It
will probably start around 5-6pm; however, the official time will be announced
at weigh in on Saturday. Feel free to bring a side dish and chair. You will
need to bring your own drinks. This is one of my favorite events that the club
hosts. Everyone has a great time. It’s a good event for interacting and
getting to know other members of the club.
