Mrs Bennett’s Class This week Mrs Bennett’s class have been learning all about growing plants and life on the farm. Some children have planted seeds of their own at home which have started growing with some amazing results. In English we’ve been reading the story of Jack and the Beanstalk and learning how to use apostrophes. At home there’s been some fantastic activities going on from wildlife

spotting and bike riding to hardcore workouts and learning about the Mona Lisa. We’re also enjoying listening to Matilda on Class Dojo read by Mrs Bennett with special guest appearances from her dog! A special well done to Jacob who

is following the

story in his own copy of the book. This weeks joke comes from Phoebe, what flower can you find under your lips? Tulips!

MrsWhiting’s Class

We’ve been continuing with our science experiments this week. They’ve loved having a go at numerous experiments and some of them have written up their

results and findings. The children have produced some lovely work linked to our daily questions including: fact files on nocturnal animals and RAF/WW2 artwork. They have been hard at work with their White Rose Maths and the Reading Gladiators have been working

hard on their new work from Mrs O’Hare.

Mrs Douglas’ Class First of all I would like to say a big thank you to my parents for supporting their children with their home learning. You are doing a great job and the children certainly seem to be enjoying their tasks. Some of my class appear to be missing the daily school routine, and have therefore been busy making and following their own daily timetables. In English this week the children have continued to to use the Oak National Academy website and have been asked to design and make a co-bot and then to write a set of instructions. They made some amazing models using different media and then wrote clear, detailed instructions. I was also very pleased to see that they had remembered to use their best, neat handwriting (Without me standing over them nagging them to do so.) # I have been impressed to see that my class are continuing with their daily reading and a few children are now reading longer and more challenging texts. The daily exercise continues, together with independent story writing, painting and drawing and one pupil has even been having Geography lessons using Google Earth. Keep working hard my class and keep safe.

Critical Workers Children Those of us that are critical workers’ children that have to go to school while our parents are working are doing lots of activities with children from all year groups.

On Monday the critical worker's children and the Year 3 and 4 team completed a mindfulness day. We started off with a yoga and meditation class which was very relaxing. We then went outside and played with bubbles - it's amazing how many games you can play with bubbles! The children then took part in a range of activities to create gifts for friends and family so they would know that we are thinking about them. These included balloon messages and a life size virtual hug - the children did an excellent job of decorating these to look like themselves. In the afternoon, the children played outside and created beautiful wind chimes made from seashells.

On Tuesday it was Early Years who looked after us. We started our morning off by us all joining in with a just dance. Once our bodies were all warm we could choose some of the activities whilst we took it in turns to either read to one of the teachers or complete some of the White Rose Maths. After this we had a go at 2 different science experiments one with felt tips and water making rainbows and one with food colouring and water changing colours, it was great fun. We also had the opportunity to make some posters on the computer all about ‘How to save water’ as part of our eco theme today and had a little bit of I pad time

The critical workers children on Wednesday had a go at making delicious cookies with Mrs Heap and learnt how to not only bake but decorate their cookies properly as well. After doing some maths and reading they had a go at designing a Superhero bear to enter in a competition at Waitrose. As the weather was horrible, in the afternoon they did some Noodles PE with the sports coach, it looked like a lot of fun.

Keyworkers’ children spent Thursday with the Year 5/6 teachers in school. They did some of their home learning in the morning and designed their own shoe houses for the old woman and her children from the nursery rhyme to live in. They had great fun on their scooters at playtime even though it was quite a bit colder than last week! (We’re praying for more sunshine next week!) In the afternoon, they did sports outside with the sports coach and had a go at coding in the ICT Suite.

Mrs Davies’ Class

This week in phonics Year 1 have been practicing using their graphemes knowledge to spell Phase 5 words. In English they have been retelling the story of Jack and the Beanstalk in their own words. In maths they have been beginning multiplication and making arrays using a variety of materials. They have been very resourceful, using counters, bottle tops, peanuts and mini eggs!!!In our topic work the children made characters for a story using vegetables! In other news we are eagerly awaiting the arrival of 9 ducklings $ . Noah is looking after them so carefully as they incubate. We will keep you posted!!

Miss Marshalls’ Class In Reception this week the children have been trying really hard. In phonics we have started learning all about polysyllabic words, we have had a go both at reading and writing them and using them in our sentences. I know some children have also been watching the online phonics from the English hub as well, which they have enjoyed. In maths, we have been working out which number is missing and asking for a reason on why it could be that

number. It has been fab to see lots of voice recordings and videos of the children doing their maths work this week % Some of our science activities this week have included testing our dens that we built to see if they were waterproof and also seeing which objects would fly in the wind, whilst we were pretending to be big bad wolf’s. We also gave children a 2 week enrichment project of recycling an empty milk container and making it into a bird feeder, you can see some of the great designs below, some great designs by Noah and Chloe. Well done everyone, keep your eyes peeled for the next teachers video on our class dojo &

We have worked hard with position and direction in maths. We have also celebrated international Dance day by researching what it is all about and learning new yoga positions. The children have really enjoyed learning all about farming, where food comes from and different types of farming. International dance day - what amazing yoga positions!!!

Mr O’Connor and Mrs Willis’ Class

The children in our class have been working really hard this week, it has been lovely to see the children enjoying using White Rose for Maths and Oak National Academy for English. We have seen lots of excellent instructional writing and so many different types of co-bot (a robot to help during lockdown). We have been really impressed by the range of skills and materials the children have used to create their machines. We would definitely love for a few of the co-bots to come and help us out with our shopping and cleaning! The children have also completed lots of other activities including practising different sports, art and baking. Well done everyone, you are doing brilliantly! In my class this week the children have been extremely busy! Some children have been finishing off their creative project from last week and have completed building their co-bot. Others have been getting on with his weeks creative task which was to decorate a rock/stone which they can show the NHS and neighbours to show they're thinking of them. I have had some lovely photos of beautifully decorated rocks so well done Y3/4! In addition to this, the children have also been working hard on their life skills, I have had regular updates from parents expressing how their children have been helping them around the house by learning to cook, clean, wash the dishes and even learning to plant different vegetables in the garden! Elsie joined in with her brothers home-learning work to creating a time-line over a decade of her life, they also turned this into a PSHE lesson. My class have continued to work on Timetables Rockstars, Spelling Shed and Prodigy. Thank you for sending in your updates and pictures! Take care and keep safe. Missing you all. Miss Kirby

They have also been using objects to complete take away calculations.  Our afternoon activity this week has been to test their dens to see if they were waterproof, Ella said 'The blankets didnt get all wet because my roof was a paddling pool' and Jensen sai 'My lego house is waterproof because it is plastic.'

Also they have had a 2 week project to recycle a milk container...some great entries by Evie Humphries who has made an Elephant, Reggie Shaw who made his into a bird feeder for his Auntie to hang in the tree, William Wooldridge with his Disco Pig and Lewis Baker with his Bulbasaur dinosaur flower pot! Mrs Taylor’s Class Mrs Taylor’s class have been busy this week completing the remainder of their science investigations, we’ve looked back at our lives over the last decade and made timelines on paper or shared them on google classroom.  We have continued to work through white rose maths learning and have tried the BBC English this week.  We have looked at the history of the Red arrows and are currently writing a biography about Tim Berners-Lee.  We are enjoying taking part in the PE challenge and daily quiz question.

Mrs Surplice’s Class Lots of us have been doing lots of brilliant Maths work from White Rose again this week and have completed our Covid-19 Time Capsules for English. White Rose Challenge Friday was a real challenge on Friday but many of us had a go and

surprised ourselves with how we could use what we knew to help us and our parents were a great help too.

Our Daily Trivia Questions have inspired us to make our own timelines, write a biography and read some David Walliams books. Our teachers also gave us a link where we could listen to the whole of Gangsta Granny online. We’ve also had a go at Mrs. Taylor’s Bouncing Challenge.

We’re still having fun trying different experiments for our Science Fortnight. We’ve been making volcanoes and moving water with

static electricity. Evan also made a robotic hand! Lilian has been busy in the garden and made a bird table and decorated a plant pot with rainbow shells.

Reading Gladiators This week we have started our new book The Silk Roads.

Peter Frankopan, number one bestselling author and historian explores the connections made by people, trade, disease, war, religion, adventure, science and technology in this extraordinary book about how the east married the west with a remarkable voyage at its heart - the journey along the Silk Roads. From ancient world laws laid down by King Hammurabi and the mighty Persian empire, to terrifying huns, the rise of Europe, two world wars and politics today, The Silk Roads moves through time and history sewing together the threads from different peoples, empires and continents into a phenomenal history of the globe.

We have tried something new with this book and Mrs. O’Hare has had a go at doing some videos for the gladiators. Its a great book full of some beautiful illustrations!
