INKWHO: Colin MacIntyreWHERE: LondonFOR FANS OF: Ellie Gould-ing, Aluna George, Kate BushJIM SAYS: INK first emergedwith the track Ink Goes On inlate 2012.Cloaked in mystery at the
time, the project has onlyrecently been revealed as thework of Mull Historical Soci-ety’s Colin MacIntyre. I’dbeen tipped off early on.It’s been a struggle keeping
it secret! Hearing INK, it’s easyto see why the Scots singer-songwriter should want to goundercover initially. With female vocals on the
tracks I’ve heard so far, it’s farremoved from his work as MullHistorical Society, or indeedhis solo material.Full of pop hooks with elec-
tronic undertones, it’s furtherproof that Colin is one of ourfinest music creators.Colin told me: “I began writ-
ing and programming thesongs in 2012. I was at an art-ist’s party in New York and Isaw this piece of art that read‘Thinking Not Thinking’.“I liked how ‘ink’ popped
out of those words. Literallythe next day I was standingoutside Urban Outfitters inNew York when the first song Iwrote for INK popped into myhead, Ink Goes On.“I heard it as being sung
from a female lead vocal. Ibought some programming
software and within threeweeks (the end of my staythere) I had a dozen songsprogrammed. It was immed-iately more electronic, morepure pop, more beats-driven,than anything I’d done before, and INK was born.”By not coming out as Colin
MacIntyre immediately theproject has had time tobreathe, and the profile hasgrown organically. Some positive early reviews
set things up nicely. Withoutany preconceived ideas, it’sthe music that did the talking.Colin explained: “I already
have a music profile and I con-sider INK quite different towhat I’ve done before, bothmusically and visually.”As for finally revealing him-
self: “It just seemed the righttime. I didn’t want the mysteryto be the story so to speak, and people around me justsaid ‘why not?’ So I did too.”Currently working on the
INK album, there is also a MullHistorical Society Best Ofalbum forthcoming. He’s already writing songs
for a new Mull album, so hedoesn’t plan closing that chap-ter of his career any timesoon.Colin’s creative juices are
certainly flowing at themoment, with his debut novelThe Letters Of Ivor Punch dueto be published next year.MORE: www.inkmusic.tvQ Jim presents Drivetime on XFMScotland, Monday to Friday 4-7pm.www.xfm.co.uk www.jimgellatly.com

ADVANCED Warfare obviouslylooks great, but CoD’s key sell isthe exaggerated, in-your-face, all-out warfare that its cult followingso adores. Still, there’s plenty ofintricacies beyond the usualcrash, bang, wallop style. The single player mode offers
plenty of value, but who are wekidding? It’s all about the multi-player and Activision have reallyupped their game.Legions of loyal fans will buy
the world’s best-selling gameregardless – and, unlike some ofits precursors, Advanced Warfarewill be befitting of that title.

A BEAUTIFUL puzzler that is asengaging as it is challenging. You control TWO characters at
once, using each analog stick toguide two halves of a dragonthrough a lengthy tunnel. It’s a simple mechanism that
works brilliantly – and fits thestoryline of two souls that are inlove but cannot be together.Despite being low-budget, this
was the game we couldn’t walkaway from at the show. And Sonyproduced a shock by announcingit would be available immediatelyafter their press conference.Versions for the PS3 and Vita
will follow.
YOU’RE probably not surprisedabout this one. The perennialchallenge for EA Sports – how doyou improve upon the seeminglyperfect game? This year, inspiration has been
drawn from Barcelona’s “tikitaka” and “parking the bus”.But as ever, there’s a period of
adjustment with the new title, especially with the more intuitivepassing interface. The player AInow reacts contextually, meaningteams seek to preserve their lead.Previously, they’d be one track-
minded – never altering due tocircumstance – and thereforerather predictable.
THE first Disney Infinity broughtthe world of Disney charactersinto our homes. Now the Marvelheroes come out to play.Kids can play as their favourite
Marvel icon whenever andhowever they want. The Toybox mode has been

THIS has been on everyone’sradar since its firstannouncement. From thecreators of Halo and thepublisher behind Call Of Duty,Destiny is a FPS built from theground up to have youinteracting with players allaround the world. We were able to get our hands
on this exciting title and, fromwhat was shown, it’s been worththe wait. Destiny brings excitingand varying gameplay, and itseems it’s going to offercountless hours of fun.l Read more about Destiny inThe Scottish Sun on Sunday.

INDIE music is what T in thePark’s 21-year golden leg-acy is built on.But it was trying to get AWAYfrom that scene that’s sending Glas-gow trio Atom Tree to Balado.Main man Shaun Canning admitted: “Itcame to a point where everybody I knewwas making indie music.“I wanted to do something different. Two years ago, I decided to start doingthis electronic thing.“I got a laptop and it had some soft-ware on it, so I started dabbling. And it’sgone from there.“I put a song up online and it did well. From there I got a manager, then one ofmy mates Michael became the drummer.“Then last December, I met Julie at aChristmas night out and she’s our singer. It just came together.“We’re still trying to find our feet, Juliehas only done seven gigs in her life — butit’s going well.”The band were stunned to get the callsaying they’d bagged a precious T Breakslot. That was after a long wait with theirfingers crossed.Shaun, 24, said: “It’s been a long proc-ess, waiting a few months to hear aboutit. We’d heard initially that we had not abad chance.“But until it’s confirmed, you’re still onedge. It’s real a privilege to be part of it.“T in the Park is one of those onesevery year, I’ve had difficultly gettingtime off work. So I’ve never been. It’s
going to be a pretty cool experience forthe first time to go and to be playing it.”And now Atom Tree want to kick on.They’re looking at the masterplan theirGlasgow counterparts Chvrches have fol-lowed — and want to replicate it.Producer Shaun explained: “They’re thebig ones for us.“They’ve been all over the world andare providing an inspiration.“We’ve looked at their formula, howthey went from the level we are at andtook that step up.“The fact we’ve come around now andelectronic music is doing so well is a bitof luck. We’re here at the right time.”
‘We need to build onit and get touring’
While T Break will be a big night. Theband don’t want it to be their biggest.Shaun said: “We need to make sure webuild on it. It’s good to have got it butwe need to build on it.“The plan is get our touring. And themore gigs we do, the tighter it’s going toget live.“Nowadays there’s not that many peoplebuying music.“So we change it up live, and it’s notjust us playing the tracks.“Especially with electronic music, a lotof people don’t do much live — but we’retrying to work at that.“We need to take it on further- andwe’re trying hard to do that.”Q For more check out www.facebook.com/atom-treemusic
THIS is a stunning little title thatreally does look like a propernext-gen game. It’s a cliche to compare gaming
graphics to those of films, but it isactually true here. The cut scenes could easily
be lifted from a Hollywoodblockbuster – and it’s an entirelyseamless transition to gameplay.Absolutely beautiful.Given that the release date is
still some time away, it’s excitingto think that there may still besome tweaks and improvementsto come.
