“Your beliefs become your thoughts, Your thoughts become your words, Your words become your actions, Your actions become your habits, Your habits become your values,

Your values become your destiny.” ― Mahatma Gandhi

Look to the Past

•  Recall 3 examples of times when you made a challenging values based decision –  Story 1: (Organizational) You were clearly responsible to

make the decision. You were involved as well as responsible.

–  Story 2: (Organizational) You were not at all responsible for the situation, but you inserted yourself even though you could have easily avoided it. You were neither involved nor responsible.

–  Story 3: (Personal) In your personal life – family, neighborhood, friends, identify a story that reveals your values in action.

Page 9: #1NLab14: Re-Defining Why You Lead

In Each Story

•  You were making choices and decisions that mattered to you.

•  You felt good about you handled the situation (regardless of final outcome).

•  Think about yourself “in the moment” and recall the decisions you made around how to act and do.

•  Make note of what you really wanted for yourself and for others.
