19th Annual Conference
Conference Chair Message Dear ITS Arizona Members: I would like to welcome everyone to the 2012 ITS Arizona Annual Conference. This is the 19th consecu-tive year we have held an annual conference. This conference could not have been possible without the support of sponsors, exhibitors, speakers, volunteers and most importantly you the attendees, who help make this conference a success. The volunteers on the conference committee have put forward a wonderful program with presentations from academic as well professional domains. The exhibitors are showcasing the latest and greatest prod-ucts in the industry. I encourage each of you to make the most of the conference by visiting the Exhibitor Showcase, as well as networking with conference attendees. The conference presents an excellent op-portunity to network with a variety of participants from the public, private and academic sectors. Please note that your 2012-2013 membership to ITS Arizona has been included in the conference regis-tration fee. Enjoy this year’s conference and please provide us with your suggestions and feedback on the evaluation form, to make our conference even better next year. I’d like to personally thank everyone who has worked so hard to make this conference happen – from the ITS Arizona Conference Committee, to the Board of Directors. Most of all, I want to thank all of you for attending today and supporting ITS Arizona. Thanks to everyone – have a great Conference! Regards, Kiran Guntupalli Vice President & Conference Chair, ITS Arizona

ICM is a game changer in the world of multimodal transportation. A growing number of congested corridors recognize ICM
as “a next logical step” to improving safety and mobility, building on advancements in ITS deployment, institutional collabora-
tion, and active management strategies over the past decade.
The USDOT’s Research and Innovative Technology Administration (RITA) is offering an Introduction to ICM Deployment
workshop at ITSA State Chapter meetings across the country through its Professional Capacity Building Program (PCB).
This workshop targets transportation planners, managers and engineers at state and local agency levels, who are interested
to learn more about ICM. Participants will learn what it means to operate a multimodal corridor in a truly “integrated” fashion;
how to devise strategies that are both “integrated” and “active;” how to define meaningful and measurable “corridor -level”
goals and objectives; how to engage the full array of multimodal stakeholders in the vision for ICM; and gain insight into each
major phase of the ICM lifecycle such as the development of an ICM concept of operations and requirements, rooted in the
proven systems engineering process.
