Where are we up to?

Following the topping out of the new hospital building in August, much of the construction activities are now focussed inside the building. Work is well underway with the electrical, hydraulic and mechanical services as well as internal wall framing and plasterboard installation.

Local Member Dugald Saunders MP alongside local media and Community representatives were recently taken on a progress tour.

MUDGEE HOSPITAL REDEVELOPMENT

Prototype Room and Staff Tours commenced The Prototype Room for Mudgee is now complete. The room is a standard Inpatient Unit bedroom and ensuite and was recently reviewed with the Local Health District demonstrating the final product.

While construction progresses with framing, services and plasterboard installation, staff tours are underway, enabling Department leads to view their specific area/s along with the Prototype Room.

The tour participants were very excited to see the results of the Project User Group participation coming to reality.

MUDGEE HOSPITAL REDEVELOPMENT

The fire extinguisher holders built by Mudgee High School Students are being used onsite.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT The Mudgee Hospital Contractor, Hutchinson Builders have highly engaged with the Mudgee Community. Here is a snap shot of what they have done.

Mudgee High School Hutchinson Builders have recently hosted two groups of students from Mudgee High School. The visits focused on career opportunities in the construction industry, with the Certificate 2 Construction students hearing from trades through to the project managers. The students were “impressed by the number of people working on site… and they all seemed to be busy doing their thing not getting in each other’s way.”

Hutchinson Builders also provided materials for the Manual Arts students to build moveable fire extinguisher holders for the site. These were made with plywood and were screwed and glued as an exercise in mass production.

PCYC If you are a user of the Mudgee PCYC look out for an upgrade of the Pool Gym Corridor and kitchen. Hutchinson Builders are working with the PCYC to upgrade to a commercial kitchen. Works include the demolition and removal of the existing kitchen, new plumbing and electrical works, new vinyl floor and wall tiles alongside new stainless steel benches.

Munna Reserve Mudgee Local Aboriginal Land Council's (LALC) Munna Reserve is undergoing improvements. In the new year Hutchinson Builders will be erecting a large sheltered space for meetings and workshops.

The new shelter will enable increased use of the reserve by providing a more comfortable experience.
