STEWARDSHIP: In today’s Gospel, Jesus had planned to slip away from the crowds for a few moments of peace and a little rest. When He saw the people gathered, however, He put His needs aside to meet the needs of others. Sometimes, as good stewards, we are called to do the same. ===================================== PLEASE PRAY FOR OUR SICK:

Scripture Reflection: We hear in today’s readings about leader-ship and the role each leader has in guiding their “flock.” The First Reading talks about a shepherd leading people astray. The Gospel tells us that Je-sus, although wanting some rest and solitary prayer time, felt sorry for the crowd who were hungry for the Word of God. The responsibility of every leader is to guide people and bring them to a closer relationship with Jesus Christ. We refer to the teachings of Jesus Christ as the Gospel of Life. It is an understanding of the compassion and love of the Son of God and using all the gifts that God gives us to be people of Faith, Hope and Charity/Love that make us better disciples of Jesus Christ. The Gospel tells us, even when we are tired, we need to preach the Word of God in word and action. Family demands can make us feel like Jesus and the twelve apostles. We wish for times of relax-ation and renewal, but there are errands to do, household chores to keep up with, volunteer com-mitments to keep. These are all good things, but we can be left feeling drained and tired as we try to keep up. Perhaps we might take the opportunity this week to give ourselves permission to find the rest and relaxation that Jesus seeks for his disciples in today's Gospel. One of the gifts we can give to one another in our family life is assistance in finding the time and space to renew ourselves through prayer. So we ask ourselves:

• Do we seek the peace of Jesus Christ in every-thing that we do?

• When we have the opportunity to form the faith of others, do we lead them on the right path to Jesus Christ?

• Do we seek the rest and relaxation necessary to strengthen our resolve to be authentic disciples of the King of Peace?

hagamos?
