The Merzari family began their project of hospitality in1992 following their skilful restoration of the ancientvilla, which was built between 1100 and 1400. The space given over to the restaurant is made up ofvarious small and large rooms, to interpret andaccommodate the most disparate needs: you will findthe right environment to enjoy a cosy dinner or aconvivial evening with your friends.All of the dining rooms contain an interesting collection ofpaintings dedicated to Lessinia, by Guido Pigozzi, thearchitect who performed the restoration, which confersthe sweet and solitary atmosphere of the Cimbrian land.The menu knowingly unites local cuisine with original andtasty dishes of Venetian tradition. A rich wine list, qualityservice and a relaxing environment… it would be difficultto imagine more.

The dining proposals of Villa de Winckels range from a fine interpretation of Venetian traditional cuisine, accompaniedby quality wines from our own and other regions.Villa de Winckels also organizes “tasting menus” every month, offering faithfull customers the opportunity toexplore new combinations of tastes, perfumes and wines.

The place is named in honor of the last descendant of the De Winckelsfamily, to whom the villa belonged. The wine shop is located in a small housealongside the restaurant; in 1100 it was part of a small monastery.At the wine cellar, you can taste the best vintages of Italian and foreignwines and, obviously, wines of Veronese producers.In addition to wine tasting, the wine shop is also available to organize dinnerswith lots of tasty appetizers, salamis and cheeses, accompanied byabsolutely mythical fruit pickles, or a special after-dinner treat, with ahomemade cake, accompanied by a fine Recioto or a Passito wine fromanother region.The prices are honest and reflect the quality, courtesy, service and beauty ofthe place.

If you prefer an informal atmosphere, the “General’s Wine Cellar” is the place for you

It is the ideal place to invent your wedding party, withmany nuances. There is a wonderful stone pavedcourtyard for the aperitif buffet, a shady wood for thecocktail party, all the dining halls of the restaurant, aswell as the large hall to host all of your guests (maximum260 persons) around the newlyweds’ table.The composition of the tables in the dining hall can bechanged, as well as the menu and all other details of theparty, which are agreed upon with the newlyweds.The experience of the Merzari family will support youand guide you in the most appropriate choices to expressyour personal style.

The Illasi Valley is perhaps the mostpoetic of Veronese valleys. It is a land of great wines, such asSoave, Valpolicella, Amarone andRecioto; its landscape is a tapestryof vineyards and cherry trees, and itis famous for its beauty.Seen from this ancient doublelancet window, it will indelibly markthe memory of those who gazeupon it.

The valley is extraordinarily rich intracks and is frequented assiduouslyby hikers and mountain bikeenthusiasts.

There are 12 comfortable, spacious and luminous rooms at the Villa. Every room has a bathroom, television,telephone, mini-bar and air conditioning (although the hillside climate is comfortable even without air conditioning).There are double rooms or single rooms and several suites, with a large room next to the bedroom for family needs.

It is a place that inspires the imagination

Villa de Winckels is in a truly strategic position: it is near Verona, with the Arena, and important artistic cities suchas Vicenza and Venice; it lies at the end of the “Soave wine road”, and has a beautiful view of the landscape atthe foot of the Carega Group of the Lessinian Mountains, where Durello wine, another equally important specialty,is produced. This allows guests to spend an extremely varied vacation, with mountain hikes, trips to the surroundingvillages with Scaliger castles and baths at the Roman thermal baths of Giunone. Additionally, it is possible to visitthe Bolca Fossil Museum and the district of Cogollo, the home of wrought iron.

Take the Verona Est exit from the A4 Motorway if you are coming from Verona and the Soave exit if you arecoming from Venice. Continue towards Colognola ai Colli and climb up towards Illasi, then follow the valley toTregnago.
