ELIGIBILITY
U.S. Citizenship
Not less than 17 years old by Sept. 1 of year starting college and no more than 23 on June 30 of that year
High school graduation or equivalency certificate by August 1 of year of entrance into four-year NROTC Scholarship program
You may start the process of applying during the second semester of your junior year of high school. Before the application can be finalized and forward for selection consideration, you must ensure that a copy of your complete transcript including your entire junior year is forwarded to your recruiter.
SCHOLARSHIP SELECTION
CRITERIA
Apply for and gain admission to NROTC colleges (not required during selection process, but notification of admission must be received before scholarship can be activated)
Qualifying scores on Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or American College Test (ACT) Navy (including Nurse-option): SAT: 530 Critical Reading; 520 math ACT: 22 English 21 Math
SAT/ACT Math and English / Critical Reading scores can be from two different tests; applicants can combine best Math w/ best English / Critical Reading scores to achieve qualifying scores.

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS
Complete all requirements for bachelor's degree under college/university rules and regulations
Complete certain courses specified by Navy
Requirements may vary by college, but Navy and Marine Corps highly emphasize academic success
Normal course load required by college or university for degree completion
In addition to normal course load, midshipmen must follow these general academic guidelines:
Naval Science course each semester
Weekly drill instruction periods
Four- to Six- week training period each summer
Nurse midshipmen participate in summer training in accordance with their individual nursing curriculum requirements
CAREER OPTIONS All NROTC students select one of three options
to jumpstart their career:
The Navy Option leads to post-graduation commissioning as a US Navy ensign in one of the various Navy warfare communities – surface, submarine, aviation, special warfare, etc.
The Marine Corps Option leads to post-graduation commissioning as a second lieutenant in the US Marine Corps.
The Nurse Option leads to post-graduation commissioning in the US Navy as an ensign in the Navy Nursing Corps, part of the Department of the Navy Bureau of Medicine.
