• Meanwhile the French Navy seized control of the Chesapeake Bay

• The British were surrounded• The siege of Yorktown begins

1781- Yorktown

• On October 19, 1781 Cornwallis officially surrenders

• The Battle of Yorktown is the last major battle of the Revolution

• Prime Minister – Lord North – declares “It is all over!”
