Multiple Sites
• This presentation assumes you are already familiar with Doors and all its standard commands
• It covers the changes that appear in Doors software when multiple sites are enabled and configured

What is Multiple Sites?
• Configuring Doors to manage access control for multiple sites– Each site is handled
individually– All sites can be managed
from one Doors installation on one PC
– All sites information is stored in one common database

What is Multiple Sites?
• Configuring Doors to manage access control for multiple sites– Any Doors task can be
performed on any controller on any networked site
– However, you can communicate with, monitor, or edit only ONE site at a time

Locate the Multiple Sites Option
• Click the button or Select the Setup > System pull-down menu option
• Click the System Options tab

Enable Multiple Sites Mode
• Enable multiple sites mode by clicking in the Sites ON check box

Confirm Multiple Sites Mode
• Confirmation is required to enable multiple sites– Several Doors databases
are affected by this change
• Click the button to enable multiple sites

Save Multiple Sites Mode
• Click the button to ensure multiple sites mode is saved– If you exit without saving,
multiple sites mode is not enabled

Sites Tab
• Once multiple sites has been enabled a Sites tab is added to the Setup > System window

Enter Site Specific Information
• Enter site specific information in the provided fields• Use the scroll bar to access off-window fields

Name and Address
• Site Name – enter a descriptive name for the site– The Site Name always remains on screen, the other
columns will scroll on or off with the scroll bar
• Site Address – enter the site’s street address

Site Number and PIN
• Site Number – assigned by Doors, not editable• PIN – enter a site Personal Identification Number if
desired– The PIN is a “password” number that provides an extra level
of security

Network Configuration Changes - Modem
• The conversion to Sites mode changes the location for setting Network Configuration parameters
– The host PC parameters remain in the Network Configuration tab
– The site specific parameters move to the Sites tab

Network Configuration – Modem• These two fields are displayed for sites using
modems for communication • Phone Number – enter the site modem’s telephone
number• Modem Init – enter the modem’s initialization string,
if needed (the default string usually works fine)

Network Configuration Changes – TCP/IP

Network Configuration – TCP/IP
• These two fields are displayed for sites using TCP/IP Ethernet communication
• TCP/IP Address – enter the LAN unit’s TCP/IP address in standard “dot” notation
• Remote Port Number – enter the LAN unit’s remote port number: 10001 for LAN-50/500, 3001 for LAN-100

Global Secure and Unlock Enable
• Global Secure Time – enter the time-of-day when all non time zone controlled doors should be locked
• Global Unlock Enable – select if a signal on the global unlock input is allowed to immediately unlock all doors (master controller only)– Not to be used for fire exit control

Global Lock Enable and Comment
• Global Lock Enable – select if a signal on the global lock input is allowed to immediately lock all doors (master controller only)
• Comment – enter a descriptive comment about the site

Adding Sites
• Click the button to add new sites to the sites database

• Enter site information for each new site as described in slides 8 through 15

Multi-Site Changes in Doors
• Changes are made in the following program and database operations when in multi-site mode:– Select Site button added to the toolbar– Access group wizard– Net update– Quick search reports– Setup users spreadsheet

Displaying Site Information
• The button appears on the tool bar when multiple sites mode is enabled
• Click this button to display a list of available sites• The name of the current site is displayed on the title
bar

Selecting Site to Display
• Scroll through the list and locate the site you wish to display
• Click on that site name• Click on the
button
• Information for the selected site is now displayed in Doors

Switching Sites While Connected
• If you are connected to one site and attempt to perform a command on a different site, you will be prompted to confirm the old-site disconnection/new-site reconnection
• Click the button to switch sites

Site Access Groups
• Open the Access Groups window by either clicking on the button
OR
• Click on the Access Groups pull-down menu option

Access Group Changes
• A new window is added near the beginning of the Access Group wizard– This allows Access Group settings to be limited to individual
sites or be applied to all sites

• Access Groups will now require you to click on the site icon(s) to be applied

Multi-Site Update
• Open the Site Update window by either clicking on the button
OR
• Click on the Operate > Update Network pull-down menu option

Sites to Update
• A new column is added to the Update Network spreadsheet– All recognized sites are listed in this column
• Update status is displayed for each site– Is an update required Yes/No?

• The type of update for each site can be individually selected– Click to perform a smart or total update– Click to skip an update or event collection– Click to collect events

Quick Search Reports by Site
• To open the Quick Search Event Report window, Click on the Reports > Searchable Events pull-down menu option
• Then click on the Quick Search tab

Quick Report Changes
• Site selection radio buttons are added at the top of the Quick Search window– This allows quick searches to be limited to individual sites or
be applied to all sites

User Management Changes
• Multi site mode allows user access parameters to be applied to one site or to all sites
• Before assigning user parameters, verify the user spreadsheet is set properly
• The Setup Users window title bar shows which site mode the users spreadsheet is in

Managing Users at One Site
• This Setup Users spreadsheet is set to apply user parameters for one site– The title bar for the Doors
program window shows the Site name
– The title bar for the Setup Users window confirms the spreadsheet is in One Site mode
– Click the button to switch to All Sites mode

Deleting a Site
• A site can be deleted from all the Doors databases– Use this command with extreme caution!
If a site is removed, all site related database information is deleted and is NOT recoverable
– Any site on the list can be deleted (it does not have to be the last entry on the list)
– Site databases will reconfigure to accommodate any changes

• Click on the Site Name for the site to be deleted• Click on the button

• Because of the affect on Doors databases, you must confirm the deletion
• Click the button.

Disabling Multi-Site Mode
• Multi-site mode can be disabled entirely, returning all Doors databases to a single site– Use this process with extreme caution!
Once sites are removed and multi-site mode is disabled, all site related database information is deleted from Doors and is NOT recoverable

Delete Unneeded Sites
• To disable multi-sites mode you must delete all unneeded sites, leaving one remaining site
• Follow the process previously described to delete all unneeded sites, leaving one site

• Click on the System Options tab • Click on the Sites button to display the Sites ON
check box• Click on the Sites ON check box and clear the
check mark
