The Place for the Reservation of
the Most Holy Eucharist
In accordance with the structure of each church and
legitimate local customs, the Most Blessed Sacrament
should be reserved in a tabernacle in a part of the
church that is truly noble, prominent, conspicuous,
worthily decorated, and suitable for prayer.
The tabernacle should usually be the only one, be
irremovable, be made of solid and inviolable
material that is not transparent, and be locked in
such a way that the danger of profanation is
prevented to the greatest extent possible. Moreover,
it is appropriate that before it is put into liturgical
use, the tabernacle be blessed according to the rite
described in the Roman Ritual.
It is more appropriate as a sign that on an altar on
which Mass is celebrated there not be a tabernacle in
which the Most Holy Eucharist is reserved.
Consequently, it is preferable that the tabernacle be
located, according to the judgment of the Diocesan
Bishop:
a) either in the sanctuary, apart from the altar of
celebration, in a appropriate form and place, not
excluding its being positioned on an old altar no
longer used for celebration
b) or even in some chapel suitable for the private
adoration and prayer of the faithful[128] and
organically connected to the church and readily
noticeable by the Christian faithful.
In accordance with traditional custom, near the
tabernacle a special lamp, fueled by oil or wax,
should shine permanently to indicate the presence of
Christ and honor it. In no way should any of the
other things be forgotten which are prescribed by
law concerning the reservation of the Most Holy
Eucharist. (USCCB)

Twenty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time
Being a disciple. Jesus is relentless. One more time he tells
the great crowd: carry your cross, renounce possessions, be
my disciple. Following him requires relentless behavior.
We are to have an unwavering preference for Jesus above
parents and family. But we cannot forget that care for them
and all others is also attention to Jesus Christ. It is both-
and. Always.
►How will I behave to assure myself I am following Jesus?
►What must I do to carry my cross one more day, one
more week?
►What possession(s) can I give away for someone else to
use?
What are we to avoid in our spiritual life? SINS CRYING TO HEAVEN FOR VENGEANCE Willful murder, Sodomy, Oppression of the poor, Defrauding laborers of their just wages. SINS AGAINST GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT Presumption of God’s mercy Despair Impugning the known truth Envy at another’s spiritual good Obstinacy in sin Final impenitence THE SEVEN CAPITAL SINS (PAGGLES) Pride, Anger, Greed (covetousness), Gluttony, Lust, Envy, and Sloth (Laziness.) NINE WAYS OF BEING AN ACCESSORY TO ANOTHER’S SIN By Advise, By Ordering, By Concealment, By Consent, By Defense of the Evil Done, By Participating, By Provocation, By Praising, and By Silence THE THREE CONDITIONS FOR MORTAL SINS An acronym KISS — knowledge, intention and serious sins. Or in the words of the Catechism Full knowledge, Deliberate Consent and Grave matter.
