IMPORTANT NOTES 1. Scale of Ismrte

A—One text per pupil in each class or course and one for the teacher. B—Tcxts provided in sets. One text per pupil in the largest group receiving

instruction at any one Unie but not to exceed 50 per cent of total grade or course enrolment if more than one class under instruction.

0—Prescribe,' for teacher use only, the hooks being the property of the school and not of the individual teacher.

D--Some teachers' manuals, certrin pupils' expendable workbooks, and sup-plementary books are authorized but not provided on a free or rental plan basis.

E—For certain subjects, a specific number of texts provided. Scr individual subjert.

If special circumstances in a school make the scale of issue inadequate, princi- pals should present their cases to the Director, Victoria.

2. ['imam able Materials

Materials such as teachers' manuals, workbooks, Oictionaries, and instructions tapes may be purchased through the .. A complete listing of such materials, ax..ilable by purchase from the (._nray be found in the CurriB

ranchr tua Rescurces

current issec of the Textbook Catalci tie. When ordering, purchasable. material should be supported by a purchase order raised by the Secretary-Treasurer of the District School Board.

3. Requisition,'

All orders :.rd requisitions to the t nibst be submitted through the Secretary-Treasurer of the District School Board.

The requisition for a prescribed text for any giveo course must bear a definite relation to the enrolment for that course. Where a student is taking a number of courses requiring the use of the same tc:t, care should be taken not to order more texts than are necessary. Principals are requested to scrutinize carefully, and to revise where necessary, the number of texts rec, ifisitioned for all courses. Since many cow scs arc under revision, and revision usually entails the prescribing of new texts, the rate of new adoptions is conditioned in large measure by the economics which can he eflected in the best utilization of all texts.
