A Crochet Shawl

Bernat has come up with this amazing free

crochet pattern. A pink crochet shawl for

any time of year. Add this brightly colored

shawl to your wardrobe, add some color to

your life.

Materials:

 Yarn: Bernat® Satin (120 g/4.2 oz; 230 m/251 yds) #00432 (Flamingo) 3 balls

 Crochet Hook: Size 5.5 mm (U.S. I or 9) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge: 7 sps and 6 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] in

pat.

Measurements: Approx 57 ins [144.5 cm]

wide x 31 ins [78.5 cm] deep.

Instructions:

Note: sp(s) = space(s). Pattern is calculated

in spaces throughout.

Ch 201.

1st row: (WS). 1 dc in 5th ch from hook

(counts as 1 dc and ch-1 sp). *Ch 1. Miss

next ch. 1 dc in next ch. Rep from * across.

99 sps. Turn.

2nd row: Ch 4. Miss first ch-1 sp. 1 dc in

next dc. (Ch 1. Miss next ch-1 sp. 1 dc in

next dc) twice. *(Yoh and draw up a loop.

Yoh and draw through 2 loops on hook) 3

times in next ch-1 sp. Yoh and draw through

all 4 loops on hook – cluster made. 1 dc in

next dc. (Ch 1. Miss next ch-1 sp. 1 dc in

next dc) 3 times. Rep from * to end of row.

Turn.

3rd row: Sl st in first dc. Sl st in next ch-1

sp. Sl st in next dc. Ch 4. Miss next ch-1 sp.

1 dc in next dc – beg dec made.

*Ch 1. Miss next ch-1 sp or cluster. 1 dc in

next dc. Rep from * to last ch-1 sp. Turn.

Leave rem sp unworked.

4th row: Beg dec. (Ch 1. Miss next ch-1 sp.

Finishing

Outer Edging: 1st rnd: With RS facing, join

yarn with sl st at top left corner and work 1

rnd sc evenly down side edge, around point,

up other side edge and across foundation

row of Shawl. Join with sl st to first sc.

2nd rnd: Ch 1. Working from left to right

instead of from right to left as usual, work 1

reverse sc in each sc around.

Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.

Autumn Shawl

This beautiful shawl has striped detail in

deep earth tones perfect for the Fall. This

free crochet shawl pattern is for all skill

levels and it will cozy up every outfit!

MATERIALS

 Bernat® Satin  (100 g/3.5 oz; 149 m/163 yds)  2 balls each of:  A: #04013 Mocha  B: #04018 Buff  C: #04521 Amber  D: #04435 Cameo  E: #04531 Rouge  Crochet Hook: size 5.5 mm (U.S. I or 9)

or size needed to obtain gauge.

MEASUREMENTS Approx 24 x 70 ins [61 x 178 cm].

GAUGE 13 sc and 14 rows = 4 ins [10 cm]

Stripe Pat: Work 2 rows of each color in

following sequence: A, B, C, A, D, E. These

12 rows form Stripe Pat.

INSTRUCTIONS Note: Shawl is worked widthwise.

With A, ch 227.

1st row: (RS). 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc

in each ch to end of ch. 226 sc. Turn.

2nd and alt rows: Ch 2 (does not count as

st). 1 hdc in each st to end of row. Join B.

Turn.

First 2 rows of Stripe Pat are completed.

3rd row: With B, ch 1. 1 sc in each of first 3

hdc. *(Pulling long loop, 1 sc in next

foundation ch two rows below – long sc

made) twice. 1 sc in each of next 2 hdc. Rep

from * to last 3 hdc. 1 sc in each of last 3

hdc. Turn.

5th row: Ch 1. 1 sc in first hdc. *Long sc in

each of next 2 hdc two rows below. 1 sc in

each of next 2 hdc. Rep from * ending with

1 sc in last hdc. Join C. Turn.

7th row: With C, ch 1. 1 sc in each of first 3

hdc. *Long sc in each of next 2 hdc two

rows below. 1 sc in each of next 2 hdc. Rep

from * to last 3 hdc. 1 sc in each of last 3

hdc. Turn.

8th row: As 2nd row joining A at end of

row.

Keeping cont of Stripe Pat, rep 5th to 8th

rows for pat until work from beg measures

approx 24 ins [61 cm], ending with a WS

row. Fasten off.

FINISHING With RS facing join A with sl st to left

corner of side edge. Work in sc across side

edge of Shawl. Fasten off. Rep across other

side.

Black Mesh Shawl
