And boy, do we wanna grab hold of those B-for-blessings: ‘Thanks very much Lord, don’t mind if I do! Yep, God’s a great mate!’ But what about when God takes away? What’s up with that? We don’t wear our God Squad badges with quite such a big smile then, do we? Let’s have a look at God’s friend Abraham. Champions ReadThis year our school library has decided to combine three themes in order to challenge families to connect through reading:1. Australia wide, 2012 is the “National Year of Reading”2. School wide, 2012 utilises the theme of “Fingerprints”, which is all

about leaving positive marks wherever we go.3. Library Book Week, 2012 celebrates the fact that “Champions

Read”Combining these three concepts, our library is a place where “Champions Read”. Those who put the effort into reading for learning and enjoyment show how they have left positive fingerprints to increase their skills – this is what makes a champion! In library classes students have discussed what reading means to them and have chosen words that reflect what the skill of reading involves – such as “inter-connectedness” and “imagination”. They then placed their fingerprints beside these words as a perpetual reminder of the champion readers they can become. You are most welcome to come in and look at this display. The 100 Bookclub last year was a great success with our theme “Books Are Keys to Other Worlds”. We saw many children achieve high levels of reading through this club while travelling all over our virtual world. This year we are confident we can make Champion Readers through:1. Premiers Reading Challenge (PRC)2. MS ReadathonWe hope to get as many children involved with these reading programs so they will have this valuable skill for life!

Help Us Get InvolvedOur aim is to have at least 100 students register and complete the Premiers Reading Challenge this year. Be the first 10 children to register and you will receive a prize at assembly.

What Do You Do To Participate?Step 1: Register and complete the PRC (see PRC registration form)Step 2: Participate in the MS Read-a-thon in June/JulyStep 3: Continue reading once you have finished the PRC for more FUN and prizes. For more involvement, plus reading facts and tips, stay tuned…
