INTRODUCTIONThe second edition of ENERSOLAR+ BRASIL, the international fair for the photovoltaic, thermal and CSP solar industry in Brazil ended in São Paolo with excellent results, confi rming the importance of a project regarding a fertile market such as that of Brazil. Business and knowledge generation, technology presentation, discussions on the trends of renewable energy, domestic and international mar-kets with a qualifi ed audience - these are the main strengths of ENERSOLAR+ BRASIL 2014 - The South American Expo & Confer-ence for the Solar Energy Industry - which will take place from 16 to 18 July at the Centro de Exposições Imigrantes in São Paulo.The previous two editions of the event had a specialized audience and provided a large number of contacts and closings of important agreements for the future of renewable energy in the country. ENERSOLAR+ BRASIL 2014 is an important opportunity for all profes-sionals of the sector interested in the important market of South America, which, in the near future, will undergo even more develop-ment. In fact the Ten-year Plan for Energy 2011-2020 foresees an important increase in the consumption of energy, which will go from 237.7 million TOE (tonnes of oil equivalent) in 2010 to 372 million in 2020, with a 5.3% annual growth.

The federal government has therefore decided, in these ten years, to invest the equivalent of EUR 450 billion in the development of the energy sector, with about EUR 200 billion to � nance re-newable energy projects (Market Research by the Brazilian Association of Independent Pro-ducers of Energy).

Furthermore - as stated by José Aníbal, Secretary of Energy of the São Paulo State - solar power is the fastest growing source of energy in the country and, together with biomass

and wind energy, will be central for doubling the energy supply by 2022, as in the current scenario hydroelectric plants with large reservoirs cannot be built. Recently and for the

fi rst time the Country’s Ministry of Mines and Energy has allowed solar and wind energy in the auctions for electricity from new plants that will go online in 2018. ENERSOLAR+ BRASIL will include a further two fairs: EOLICA SMALL WIND BRASIL (Bra-zilian Expo & Conference for the Small Wind Energy Industry) and GREENERGY & BIOGAS BRASIL (Brazilian Expo & Conference for the Renewable Energy, Biogas and Cogeneration Industry). All events have been set up thanks to the joint venture between Artenergy Publish-

ing and Fiera Milano, the latter having acquired the majority stakes of CIPA, the most important organizer of fairs in this South American country. Simultaneously to

ENERSOLAR+ BRASIL 2014 ECOENERGY (4th Congress of Clean Technol-ogy and Renewables for Power Generation) will take place with a quali-

fi ed conference programme and national and international speakers from the renewable energy sector.
