Cartier, la célebre marca francesa, comenzó a establecer su reputacióncreando finas joyas en el estilo guirnalda como resultado de la ten-

dencia naturalista existente a fines del siglo X IX .Las flores emergieron en los diseños ornamentales del siglo XVIII, hábil-mente modeladas por los joyeros en forma de collares, cadenas con unasola gota o piedra suspendida, adornos para el cuerpo y tiaras. El resul-tado de este verdadero movimiento fue una sinfonía floral, que deleitó alos clientes de los estratos más altos de la sociedad: rosas salvajes, narci-sos, violetas de Parma, amapolas, piñas, hojas de laurel, helechos y floresde zarzamora.Como resultado de sus frecuentes viajes a Rusia y del encuentro con elgenial Fabergé a comienzos del siglo XX , Louis y Pierre Cartier extendie-ron la originalidad de los materiales utilizados en joyería con la creaciónde objetos decorativos con diseños florales.

Cartier, the famed French brand name began to establish its reputationby creating fine jewelry in garland style as a result of the naturalist

trend of the late 19th century.Flowers first emerged in the ornamental designs of the 18th century,skillfully modeled by jewelers in the form of necklaces, chains with asingle teardrop pendant or gem suspended from them, in adornmentsfor the body or in tiaras. The result of this veritable movement was agenuine floral symphony that delighted the clients culled from thehighest strata of society: wild roses, daffodils, Parma violets, poppies,pine cones, laurel leaves, ferns and blackberry blooms.As a result of their frequent travels to Russia and of their getting to knowthe brilliant artist, Fabergé at the beginning of the 20th century, Louis yPierre Cartier expanded the scope and originality of the materials used injewelry, with the creation of decorative objects with floral designs.
