The Wayne County Fair willreturn this year for the 151sttime from August 2 through

August 10 at the Wayne County FairGrounds in Honesdale, PA.

For just over one week, local live-stock, grandstand entertainment andan array of carnival colors will light upthe Wayne County Fair Grounds for theannual event that attracts thousandsof families, young adults and campers.

This seemingly short week of funand amusement is the result of year-long preparation and hard work thatcaters to the enjoyment and benefitof the community.

Once the last day of the fair con-cludes and all of the rides are safelypacked away, only a few short weekspass before the Board of Associatesgathers in September to begin plan-ning for the following year.

Any problems that occurred areresolved and details for the nextWayne County Fair are planned. A

convention is even attended inHershey, PA, to book the entertain-ment for the fair.

The grounds are kept and managedby caretakers over the year, but thereal legwork begins in late April orearly May once the buildings, stagesand land can be prepared for thequickly impending fair.

“There is great local involvementwith the fair and a lot of volunteers.That’s what makes the fair – we havea lot of support,” said Wayne CountyFair President Roger Dirlam.

Hundreds of people work to put thefair together over the course of the

year and Dirlam has been one ofthose many for over 15 years now.

“I like giving back to the communi-ty,” stated Dirlam.

The community will surely be givena lot to do at this year’s fair with WadeShows Inc. supplying the nearly 25rides for the midway, some planned

His songs “Small TownUSA,” “Backwoods,” and “Til My LastDay” have topped Country songcharts and he has toured with starsBrad Paisley, Miranda Lambert, Dar-ius Rucker and Rascal Flatts.Reserved track seats are $30 for theshow and general admission for thegrandstand is $20.

The grandstand will also featureBlack Jack Billy, a band on the risewhose music is a combination ofBlues, Soul, Country and Rock.

Once again KSR Motorsports will

For a quieter scene at the fair, 4-Hgroups will be displaying all of theirlivestock every day for judging andshowmanship and vendors can befound upon entrance into the gates.

The Wayne County Fair is pepperedwith a variety of good food, excite-ment, thrills and educational oppor-tunities for an assortment of visitors.Tickets for the fair are $8 per personand grant access to all of the WayneCounty Fair’s amenities.
