The biggest challenge of the Strawn site is leveraging its locational greatness. The hard part is done. Parcel by parcel zoning is already in place for the project to proceed and the City of Charlotte, workingwith the Charlotte Housing Authority is committed to required infrastructure improvements, road realignment and connectivity, a public park and other enhancements that benefit functionality and marketability while enriching the neighborhood as a whole.
A visionary team of designers, planners and analysts were commissioned in 2014 to make this urban hub a creative, cultural and architectural jewel in the city, setting the stage for a Master Developer to realistically execute. The ideas are in place. So is the buzz. Now it’s just a matter of meeting the demand. Key to the planning was the inclusion of Affordable Housing, the team worked collaboratively with CHAstaff, Dilworth Community Association and the City to ensure a program and pricing that was achievablefor appropriate uses and required amenities.
