Sehr geehrte Kollegen und Kolleginnen

Hiermit laden wir Sie herzlich zu unserem 14. Berner IBD Symposium für intestinale Darmerkran-kungen ein.

Dieses Jahr möchten wir Ihnen einen detaillierteren Einblick in die Pathogenese der entzündli-chen Darmerkrankungen anbieten. Wir möchten uns nicht nur auf die «klassischen» entzündli-chen Darmerkrankungen beschränken, sondern auch weitere intestinale Erkrankungen wie die gluten-sensitive Enteropathie (Zöliakie), die eosinophile Ösophagitis und das Reizdarmsyndrom in unser Programm mit einschliessen.

Zu Beginn wird Frau Prof. Darfeuille-Michaud die Interaktionen zwischen intestinaler Flora und Mukosa erläutern. Prof. Macpherson wird Ihnen einen Überblick über die Komplexität der intes-tinalen Immunantwort geben, gefolgt von Prof. Ciclitira’s Vortrag zur Pathogenese der gluten-sensitiven Enteropathie (Zöliakie).

Es ist uns eine besonders grosse Ehre, dass Prof. Satsangi unsere Einladung akzeptiert hat, um uns die neusten Erkenntnisse zum Einfl uss der genetischen Polymorphismen auf die Pathogene-se der entzündlichen Darmerkrankungen vorzustellen.

Nach der Kaffee-Pause wird Ihnen Prof. Straumann die neuesten Fortschritte in der Therapie der eosinophilen Ösophagitis erläutern, gefolgt von einem Einblick in die zukünftigen Therapiestrate-gien bei chronisch entzündlichen Darmerkrankungen durch Prof. Seibold. Zuletzt wird Prof. Tutui-an Ihnen die neusten Entwicklungen in der Therapie des Reizdarmsyndromes (IBS) vorstellen.

Dear colleagues,

It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the 14th IBD Symposium in Bern.

It is with great honour that we will host national and international experts for this year’s sympo-sium which is focused on the pathogentic intestinal diseases. Not only will they cover the basic issue on intestinal diseases but also new ongoing scientifi c researches in the fi elds of the gluten-sensitive enteropathy (celiac disease), eosinophilic esophagitis as well as the irritable bowel syndrome.

To start with Professor Arlette Darfeuille-Michaud who will give a talk on the correlation between the intestinal fl ora and mucosa. Prof. Andrew Macpherson will give an overall view on the com-plexity of intestinal immune response followed by Professor Ciclitira whose lecture is about the gluten-sensitive enteropathy.

Professor Jack Satsangi will present the latest fi ndings on the infl uence of genetic polymorphism in the pathogenetics of the intestinal infl ammatory bowel disease.

After a break Professor Alex Straumann will give an overview about the latest approach on the therapy of eosinophilic esophagitis and fi nally, Professor Frank Seibold will give an insight of future strategies in the treatment of chronic infl ammatory bowel diseases.
