OSI Model and Project 802
Logical Link Control (LLC) provides single data link control protocol for all IEEE LANs while Media Access Control (MAC) provides different protocols for different LANs.
MAC contains synchronization, flag, flow and error control specifications necessary to move information from one place to another and the physical address of the next station to reduce and route a packet.
