The enthronement in the home is the recognition of Jesus as King of the family. It is recognition of Jesus and of His royal power over the family which pledges to live in union with Jesus by Love, Grace and Obedience to His commandments. The enthronement is more than just a blessing of a Sacred Heart of Jesus picture or a mere dedication of the family to the divine Heart; it is a way of life. In this way the enthronement brings countless graces and blessings on the family, sanctifies it and through the family, society as a whole. In this way, the family grows in faith and holiness and spreads this holiness to the community and society in general. Jesus in turn teaches us the great lesson of love so that in family joys and sorrows, children and parents remain harmoniously one in his gentle and loving heart.

ENTHRONEMENT OF THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS

Jesus promised St. Margaret Mary Alacoque that He "will bless the home in which the image of my Sacred Heart shall be exposed and honoured." When we enthrone or display the image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in a prominent place and signify that Jesus is the King, friend and brother of the family, we are responding to the invitation of the Church to make our homes "Domestic Churches", wherein Jesus is the centre and source of love for all. As the church sanctuary lamp reminds us of Christ's presence in the tabernacle, the enthroned image of the Sacred Heart reminds us that Jesus is among us and with us. By this covenant we make our homes and hearts His tabernacle.

Gospel: Jesus rebukes Simon the Pharisee for his ungracious behaviour while Jesus has warm understanding for the woman whose conduct He does not condone but forgives her – thus teaching us that God forgives all persons who genuinely repent of their sins. (Luke 7:36 – 8:3)

JUBILEE YEAR OF MERCY PRAYERLord Jesus Christ,you have taught us to be merciful like the heavenly Father,and have told us that whoever sees you sees Him.Show us your face and we will be saved.

Your loving gaze freed Zacchaeus and Matthew from being enslaved by money; the adulteress and Magdalene from seeking happiness only in created things; made Peter weep after his betrayal, and assured Paradise to the repentant thief.Let us hear, as if addressed to each one of us, the words that you spoke to the Samaritan woman: “If you knew the gift of God!”

You are the visible face of the invisible Father,of the God who manifests his power above all by forgiveness and mercy: let the Church be your visible face in the world, its Lord risen and glorified.You willed that your ministers would also be clothed in weaknessin order that they may feel compassion for those in ignorance and error: let everyone who approaches them feel sought after, loved, and forgiven by God.

Send your Spirit and consecrate every one of us with its anointing, so that the Jubilee of Mercy may be a year of grace from the Lord,and your Church, with renewed enthusiasm, may bring good news to the poor, proclaim liberty to captives and the oppressed, and restore sight to the blind.

We ask this of you, Lord Jesus, through the intercession of Mary, Mother of Mercy,you who live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit for ever and ever. Amen.
