safer and more relaxed drive. Three active technologies – Pre-collision

System*, Lane Departure Alert and Automatic High Beam are at the

heart of Toyota Safety Sense.

lane markings in the road

ahead, Toyota Safety Sense’s

Lane Departure Alert will alert

the driver with audible and

Glossary

Rain sensor The automatic rain sensor instantly sets the appropriate wiper speed and intervals.

Toyota Safety Sense Toyota Safety Sense adds advanced active safety systems for an even safer and more relaxed drive. Three active technologies – Pre-Collision System*, Lane Departure Alert and Automatic High Beam, are at the heart of Toyota Safety Sense.

* Technical name: Pre-Crash Safety System.

Dusk sensor The dusk sensor monitors light levels and automatically switches on the headlights when the light is low.

Multidrive S Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) combines the smoothness of an automatic transmission gearbox with the fuel economy of a manual transmission. By seamlessly adjusting the pulley ratio, Multidrive S delivers the most fuel-effi cient performance. It also off ers an additional sport option. This engaging experience is delivered through a simulated sequential 7-speed manual mode; change gears using the steering wheel-mounted paddle shifts.

Tyre pressure warning system The system features a sensor valve within each wheel to constantly monitor tyre air pressure. These sensors link with a dashboard indicator that illuminates to warn you if the pressure falls below the recommended level. By doing so, the system contributes to safer driving, better tyre wear and greater fuel effi ciency.

Smart Entry & Start System Instead of a conventional key, the Smart Entry & Start System features a transmitter that allows you to unlock the doors by pulling the handle and lock them again by pressing a button. To start or stop the engine, simply press the Start/Stop button. All you need to do is carry the Smart Entry key in your pocket or handbag.

Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) airbags – 7 airbags This model is fi tted with seven airbags. They include driver’s knee airbag, SRS airbags for both driver and passenger, side airbags for the front seats, and SRS curtain shield airbags covering both the front and rear seat passengers.

Traction Control (TRC)If you accelerate too hard and cause the drive wheels to lose grip and begin spinning, TRC will automatically reduce engine power and control brake force to help restore traction.

Pre-tensioners and force limiters Integral to the front 3-point ELR seat belts, pre-tensioners and force limiters are designed to help avoid injuries to the chest area.

Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) HAC helps to ensure a smooth start on steep inclines by applying the brakes for up to 2 seconds after the brake pedal is released. This prevents the vehicle from rolling back. It is activated by pushing the brake pedal harder after stopping as long as the transmission shift lever is in any forward gear position.

ISOFIX seat fi xing Seats incorporate special anchor points, including a top tether that helps prevent the seat tipping forward. These provide a safe and convenient way of correctly securing ISOFIX child seats (available from your Toyota dealer).

Whiplash Injury Lessening (WIL) seats During an impact at lower speeds and particularly from the rear, WIL seats and headrests cushion the head and back. This reduces the risk of whiplash injuries.

Minimising environmental impact runs through every part of the Toyota business. In designing and developing a new vehicle, every component is carefully considered to ensure environmental effi ciency is optimised throughout its life. The Life Cycle Analysis for the new Verso (engine type: 1WW) compared with the previous model (2.2 l diesel – engine type 2AD-FTV) is demonstrated through the complete life cycle with 23% CO (Carbon dioxide), 21% NOx (Nitrogen Oxide), 25% NMHC (Non-Methane Hydrocarbons), 36% PM (Particulate Matter) and 6% SOx (Sulphur Oxide) reduction.

This is the mantra which has been at the heart of the Toyota business since it began. For example 95% of every Verso is reusable and recoverable, 100% of the materials are coded for easier dismantling and four heavy metals have been completely eliminated all in accordance with the European Directive 2000/53/EC. Our environmental policy means that we off er you new and innovative ways of returning your vehicle when it eventually reaches “the end of the road”.
