4. OPERATION
4.1 GENERAL OPERATION
There are two kinds of operation handling. Either trough cursor or touch screen, depending on the type of the process panel. In the picture below two frames are shown. One is for mode (SetSeq, SetCen, etc) selection and the other for commands (Start, Stop, Qstop, etc). Each object has the possibility to give at least commands. The command field is close to the object and the mode field is at the head of the left side. Example of a group object

6. ENGINEERING GUIDLINE
6.1 GENEREL INFORMATION
6.1.1 Access Variables
All objects consist of several symbols like rows in an array. The symbols can be controlled through one access variable, one row. The access variable has to be defined in the Control Builder and the Name List of the Panel Builder.
There the access variables can be replaced by the placeholder (SIG_TAG) in the different symbols.
For example “.$3” in the picture below defines the row of the two dimensional array in which the variables of the chosen object are stored. These are the variables in the particular row one is accessing the object. See the example below
e.g. SIG_TAG is one symbol of an object. It has to be replaced by the access variable

6.2 OBJECT STRUCTURE
Example using a MOT1 object. Double-click the motor object and follow the instructions below! Now one can see the rows of symbols the object contains. Within these rows there are the variables. These one finds the variable type defined by “.$xy” where the xy is 0,1,2,3,... The details about this variable can be found in the description of the particular object at the end of this document.

6.3 NAME LIST AND DATA TYPES
With these types one defines the variables to be exchanged with the process panel. It is possible to send/receive single data types or structured data types. If latter is desired, a name has to be established containing the data types needed as shown in the example bellow.
6.3.1 Data Types
The following signal formats are available in the dialog for each object assuming that the selected driver supports the signal format. To prepare the name list, the following data types have to be used for the standard objects.
Signed 32-bit: MOT1, MOT2, MOTP, VLV1, VLVNO1, GROUP, PREBIN, DIC, DIS, DOC, DOS Float with exponent 32.bit: AIS, AIC
6.3.2 Name list
The imported name list has to be a text “.txt” file. The table with the red frame shows a name list witch is ready to be imported.

6.4 BEFORE ENGINEERING STARTS
Before you start engineering follow the steps below.
1. Start Panel Builder S800 5.0 Programs -> ABB Industial IT -> Panel 800 ->Panel Builder 800 5.0 -> Panel Builder 800
2. Create / Open new project
3. In the project manager select each block and change all block backgroundcolors to the standard color. Change also the grid properties as describe below. General properties Background color for each block:
Grid for each block:
Menu -> Layout -> Grid Properties…
4. Open “BMI Standard Panel 800 5.0” library in the library window

6.5 PREPARE COMMUNICATION
The communication between the process panel and the control system works with MMS variables. The access variables have to be entered in two places:
Control Builder:
• Controllers ->related Node e.g N8 -> Access Variables
Panel Builder 800:
• View -> Name List … Select Controller systems “1: Control Network….:” Import: Choose “Text file” and select the list. Afterwards follow the instruction of the panel builder

6.6 OBJECT ENGINEERING
Example of a MOT1 object:
Each “Array Position” includes a variable string which has to be replaced with the placeholder. The “Symbol Map” describes where you have to replace in the “Object Symbol”. The name in the brackets relates to the Object Symbol

6.7 ALARM & EVENT HANDLING
The communication driver ABB Control Network version 5.0 or later has extended alarm handling over MMS on Ethernet. The driver can be configured to support MMS Alarm and Event Services and the alarm list in Panel 800 will then be integrated with the alarm list in AC 800M.
6.7.1 Alarm & Event Group definition:
Menu: Functions -> Alarm Groups… Enter the two groups shown in the picture bellow.
6.7.2 Alarm & Event properties:
Menu: Setup -> Alarm Properties… Change list size up to 10(KB)
