FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 2017 STEP 1: create two journal entries about how the detective in the stories solved their

mysteries. STEP 2: The student refines the journal entry he/she previously completed about

how the detectives in the stories solved their mysteries STEP 3: The student uses these drafts to write an expository essay comparing and

contrasting the process of solving the mysteries in the two stories –one read (“Encyclopedia Brown and the Case of the Slippery Salamander”) and one viewed ("The Adventure of the Dying Detective")
