County Commissioner Tom Collins resigns halfway through his final term. It is reported that “Collins may have left office early to give a leg up to Assemblywoman Marilyn Kirkpatrick” because “Collins has wanted her to be in that seat for a long time.”2

Republican Governor Brian Sandoval appoints Kirkpatrick to Collins’ vacant seat on the County Commission. Kirkpatrick transfers hundreds of thousands of dollars raised from lobbyists and corporations from her legislative campaign to her commission campaign.3
