We are proud to announce that this year we are celebrating our 175th anniversary. We will be holding a series of events to mark this landmark date, starting with Families Day. Hampshire Constabulary was established in 1839, headed by Captain George Robbins — our first chief constable. His workforce comprised just 14 superintendents and 91 constables. Today the constabulary has more than 5,550 officers and staff, led by the 13th chief constable, Andy Marsh. Reflecting on the organisation’s latest birthday, Mr Marsh said: “Hampshire Constabulary has served Hampshire and the Isle of Wight proudly over the last 175 years. This occasion allows us to celebrate a rich heritage while also looking forward to an exciting and positive future for the constabulary serving the people of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.” C M Y CM MY CY CMY K 1165848 - 175yrs A1 boards.pdf 1 05/06/2014 09:41:57

Picture yourself with us!You are looking at a hand-drawn illustration of officers

(and their pet dog) from Basingstoke Borough Police in 1889. Winchester-based illustrator Luke Waller used a scan of an

original photograph (shown here) to draw the picture in pencil.

We think you should “face up” to the fact that you really want be a part of this work of art, so please grab a moustache,

head behind the stand and say “Cheese!”

Luke is currently working on illustrating his own book based on true stories from his father and uncle about their time

working for Hampshire Constabulary. Visit www.lukewaller.co.uk to find out more.
