Half-Year Reports Once again, I would like to thank all the staff for the big effort in completing our Half-Year Reports. Please let us know what you think about the new format. Please never share your child’s reports on social media. They are confidential for you and your child. Our goal with each report is to provide good feedback against the relevant standards and provide guidance for improvements in the second half of the year. Dear Parents,

A special thank you to all the wonderful Years 2 to 7 students, staff and Director Mrs Cannizzaro for another special series of performances in the annual Musical. Special congratulations to all our Year 7 students. Here are a few ‘Dragon Days’ highlights.

Staffing News There will be some changes next term for you to note. Firstly, our Pastoral Care Worker-Bree Johnson will be finishing this Friday and I would like to thank Bree for her work with particular students at Pilgrim. Also, a special thanks to Chelsea Harris (Reception Red), as she has so wonderfully filled in this term, in the absence of Megan Loffler.

Year 7 Changes ahead The new State Government has decided to move ahead with moving Year 7s from primary to secondary school levels in South Australia. Thank you

Thank you to all the parents who have done extra trips to school, and have reorganised their evenings for students to be part of the musical.

Special thanks to Year 5 parents Matthew Glen, Rachel Gomez and Tricia Cooke who went on the excursion to the Pelican Point Power Plant.

Big thanks to the parents who went to the Year 2 Excursion at Adelaide Botanical Gardens: Wendy Ellery, Tanya Romeo, Rebecca Harris, Sarah Beresford, Troy Richardson. It meant lovely small groups of children, making a great day.

Thank you to parent/grandparents who assisted with the Indigenous Food Tasting Lesson for Year 2: Di Rayner, Erin Moore, Claire Henning, Stella Liang, Sarah Beresford and Rebecca Harris.

Volunteers Need Police Checks – is yours current?

Please note Police Checks need to be up-to-date for parents and volunteers to participate in school activities. If you want to check if your Police check is current email Student Services [email protected] .

Student Leadership Team & Casual Day

The SLT have organised Casual Day on the last day of term

Friday 6th July 2017. Students are asked to wear something red. Money raised will go towards The Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal.

Farewell

Scarlett (Year 3) and Saxon Allen (Year 5) are finishing their time at Pilgrim School at the end of the term. This was acknowledged at a recent worship, with prayers for the children to settle well into their new school.

We sincerely thank Nikki for her wonderful support as a parent, for the many ways she has supported Pilgrim with her artistic talent and being a class liaison with Parents and Friends. We wish the family all the best as they move and start a new business endeavour in Willunga.

YOUR CHILD’S SAFETY IS OUR PRIORITY AT THE KISS AND DROP

The task of the duty teacher at the Campus Drive Kiss and Drop is to ensure the safety of the students. Therefore the students are asked to follow three directives.

1. Only go to their carer’s car. We ask

that play dates are not arranged through car

windows. Children are to enter the vehicle from the

passenger side.

2. Load once their carer’s car is close to the area level

with the Reception room and towards the Oasis

(eastern) end of the Kiss and Drop. There are two

reasons for this:

The duty teacher can’t see children going to cars

that are at the western (cul-de-sac) end of the

Kiss and Drop as there is often a lot of

movement of people along the path, thereby

possibly impacting the children’s safety as they

are out of the teacher’s line of sight.

Children loading toward the western (cul-de-

sac) end of the Kiss and Drop disrupts the flow

of the traffic moving along the Kiss and Drop.

3. Sit on the benches on the footpath (rather than stand

or sit in front of them) and move along the seats

towards the eastern end, at the direction of the duty

teacher.

We are aware that the Kiss and Drop is often a source of frustration for motorists and we ask for your support in ensuring the correct procedures are followed including not leaving your car and continuing to drive towards the end point.

Semester 1 Reports

Semester 1 reports are going home with students this Friday 6th July 2018.

Yes, the reports look different, as a new program has been used to produce the reports.

If you would like to have an interview with the class teacher, please contact them directly to arrange a time. In some instances teachers may contact parents to request an interview. Second copies of reports are sent home to parents who have shared parenting and have requested them.

To finish off our Aboriginal Art unit this term, we looked at a

new painting technique ‘Pointillism’.

This technique uses small, coloured dotes to form an image. Here are our sunflower paintings.
