A parent rally will be held on Mon- day, August 19 at Livingston Junior High Black Box from 5:30-7:00 pm. is GEAR UP Roadshow for Parents will be a fast-paced, energetic assem- bly-style program to help familiarize students and parents with GEAR UP programs and resources. e GEAR UP staff will cover what it means to be a successful student and challenge students to “Commit Not To Quit!” MONDAY, AUGUST 19 PARENT RALLY - The Parent Rally at Livingston Junior High School will spotlight summer programs that engaged both 7th and 8th-grade students and will also overview uncoming GEAR UP events and acvies. e 7th and 8th grade Parent Rally on Monday, August 19 will include an overview of summer activities provided by GEAR UP. All Living- ston Junior High 7th and 8th-grade students make up the GEAR UP cohort and recently participated in the Go Big Leadership Camp held at Livingston Junior High School on June 30 - July 1. e students had a good time engaging in activities that will help them become leaders in pursuit of higher education and goals beyond high school. is pep rally will involve crowd interaction with t-shirt and sticker giveaways to the best participants. A second summer program offered to 7th and 8th-graders was the “Agile Minds” workshop which helps to prepare ingoing Algebra students for next school year. e program which was sponsored by the GEAR UP Grant will give students a good start this school year by helping them with passing the class and the end of course exam. e LISD GEAR UP program helps students in the class of 24 and 25 prepare for college. Seven- ty-one students attended the workshop. GEAR UP is a program designed to assist students with post-secondary education such as Technical School, Military enlist- ment, two-year college or four-year college. e program currently serves the class of 2024 and the class of 2025.
