TIGERS LOOKING FOR 14TH 20-WIN SEASON • With the 2013-14 season offi cially underway,

the Tigers are looking for a 14th-straight, 20-win season and a 14th-consecu ve postseason berth.

• Last season, the Tigers set the record for consecu ve 20-win seasons with their 13th straight. The previous record of consecu ve 20-win seasons was from 1982-93.

• The 2013-14 Tigers will a empt to add to the program’s current school record of 13-straight postseason bids (9 NCAA, 4 NIT). Last season, Memphis advanced to the NCAA Tournament third round.

• Prior to this current record run of 13-straight postseason berths, Memphis had two six-year stretches in which it reached the postseason.

• The previous two six-year postseason spans were 1972-77 (2 NCAA, 4 NIT) and 1988-93 (4 NCAA, 2 NIT). The run from 1972-77 included the 1973 NCAA tle game appearance. The 1988-93 postseason stretch included an NCAA Tournament Elite Eight appearance in 1992.

• The following shows the top-fi ve longest streaks of 20-win seasons in Tigers history:

Consec. 20-Win Seasons Yrs. 13 2001-13 12 1982-93 11 1954-64 8 1971-78 7 1946-52

JACKSON LOOKS TO JOIN ELITE TIGERS CLUB • On his current pace in all three sta s cal cat-

egories, Joe Jackson could become the second player in Memphis history to fi nish with over 1,500 points, 550 assists and 175 steals.

• Jackson enters 2013-14 with 1,209 points, 413 assists and 137 steals.

• A er his fi rst two games of 2013-14, Jackson now has 1,231 points, 420 assists and 140 steals.

• If reached, Jackson would join former Tigers standout Elliot Perry as the only two players in program history to do so.

CRAWFORD EYING 1,000-POINT MILE-STONE • Chris Crawford enters 2013-14 season needing

only 74 points to reach the 1,000-point mile-stone for his career.

• The 6-foot-4 senior guard ne ed 17 points in the Tigers’ fi rst two games in 2013-14. He now has 943 points and needs 57 for the milestone.

• When reached, Crawford will be the 49th player in program history to score 1,000 points.

• Last year, Memphis moved into the top-10 among NCAA Division I programs with 1,000-point scorers when Joe Jackson became Memphis’ 48th player to reach the milestone.

TIGERS THIRD-WINNINGEST PROGRAM IN 21ST CENTURY • Memphis enters the 2013-14 season as the na-

on’s third-winningest program in the 21st cen-tury. The Tigers have won 359 games since the turn of the century (2000-01 through 2013-14 seasons).

• The Tigers only trail Kansas (392 wins) and Duke (392) on that list.

• Louisville is the second-winning program over that span of me among American Athle c Conference schools with 325 victories.

• Since 2005-06, Memphis is the NCAA Division I’s second-winningest program with 244 victories, trailing only Kansas (254).

pastner climbing memphis wins chart • Head coach Josh Pastner entered 2013-14 with

106 wins and needed only four more victories to move into the No. 5 spot for all- me wins at Memphis.

• Pastner got win No. 1 of 2013-14 Nov. 14 and now needs only three wins for the No. 5 spot on the all- me coaching wins list.

• With his fourth win in 2013-14, Pastner will jump Bob Vana a, who compiled a 109-34 re-cord from 1956-62.

• A er he moves past Vana a, Pastner will fall in behind Larry Finch (220 wins), John Calipari (214), Zach Curlin (173) and Dana Kirk (158) on the Tigers all- me coaching victories list.

• Tsafack, who earned his bachelor’s degree in accoun ng in August, will remain a part of the Tigers program in the role of a team manager.

• During his fi nal academic year, Tsafack is pursu-ing a second bachelor’s degree.

nine newbies most since 1972-73 • The Tigers have nine newcomers with seven

freshmen and two transfers on its 2013-14 ros-ter.

• The nine newcomers are the most for a Mem-phis squad since the 1972-73 season. That squad had 10 newcomers, and many of those were available because 1972-73 was the fi rst season of freshmen eligibility.

• That 1972-73 Memphis team advanced to the NCAA tle game.

SAVING THE BEST FOR LAST • That’s the way Tiger Na on is looked at it. • When it played Aus n Peay Nov. 14, Memphis

was the fi nal program at the NCAA Division I level to play its 2013-14 season opener.

• So, the Tigers were the 351st NCAA Division I basketball program to open the 2013-14 sea-son.
