TLU TodayTLU is a public institution of higher
education. Its main strengths lie in the fields of

Estonia.It consists of 18 institutes and
4 colleges. It has more than 8500 students. It has more than 400 faculty members

TLU HistoryIn 1919, a Teachers’ Seminar was
established in Tallinn under the guidance of leading specialists in educational sciences.
In 1952, the seminar was turned into a higher educational establishment.
In 1992, it obtained the status of a public university.
TLU HistoryIn 1993, the faculty of social sciences
was established, with departments of sociology, government, psychology etc.
In 1998, a program of computer science was opened.
In 2002, the interpreter and translator training centre was established.
The present TLU dates from 15 May 2002.
TLU Language CentreTULC offers language courses
for twelve foreign languages:English, German, Greek, Russian, Swedish, Dutch, Latvian, Lithuanian, Portuguese, Italian, French, Spanish.

IELTSCAMBRIDGE ESOLDELE (Spanish)PLIDA (Italian) and DITALS (Italian
for teachers)

Testers in Europe)EALTA (European Association for
Language Testing and Assessment).
TLU Language CentreTULC has 28 teachers of foreign
languages.14 of the 28 teachers work full-
time.14 are part-time teachers.13 of them are native speakers of
foreign languages.
