Beverly Knights of Columbus

The Knights of Columbus is the world's largest Catholic fraternal service organization. It was

founded by the Venerable Father Michael J. McGivney in New Haven, Connecticut, in 1882,

and named in honor of the navigator Christopher Columbus.

Originally serving as a mutual benefit society to low-income immigrant Catholics, it developed into a fraternal service organ-

ization dedicated to providing charitable services, promoting Catholic education and actively defending Catholicism in various

nations.

The Knights of Columbus is not just a fraternity in name. It is a brotherhood of Catholic men who each play a part in improving

the world around them, one community at a time. They stand together in faith, dedicated to uphold the principles they cher-

ish – Charity, Unity, and Fraternity - while lending their support and strength to parish, home and fellow Knight. From charity

for worldwide causes, to helping closer to home with volunteer

activities, to a top-rated insurance program that protects those closest to you, the Knights makes the most of its brotherhood.

All men in the parish – young or old – are welcome and should consider joining the Knights of Columbus. We’d love to have

you! For more information on joining the Knights, please con-

tact Peter Jaquith – Grand Knight of Beverly Council 175 – At: [email protected].

A Spring Baby Shower ~~ June 6th and 7th, 2015 for clients of CATHOLIC CHARITIES NORTH

This organization works with many young families who do not have adequate financial resources to pay for all the baby care requirements. The donations from St. John’s Pa-rishioners will enable these needy families to use their limited incomes for other basic necessities, such as food and rent.

While the primary focus of this drive is on DIAPERS and ONESIES, any new baby clothing will be gratefully re-ceived.

(No toys or stuffed animals, please)

We invite our parishioners to participate in this worthy endeavor by purchasing any of the suggested items and re-turning them to the church (unwrapped).

On Wednesday, May 6, members of our Parish Family and Religious Educa-tion Program prepared and served a delicious lasagna dinner at the Memorial United Methodist Church in Beverly. A meal is served every evening , and lunches on Tuesday and Saturday’s at various locations in downtown Beverly for those in need through the OUTREACH MEALS PRO-GRAM. This program is possible with the assistance of many area groups.

Our next Feed the Hungry Project Meal is on: Wednesday, July 1, 2015.

St. Mary Star of The Sea Parish is open from 7:30am-7:30pm, Monday to Friday to worship our Lord, ask his forgiveness, and just “be together.” Hundreds have come for an hour or two, or a mi-nute or two. Each of those moments brings great joy to the adorer and to our Lord. There are so

many graces to be received and peace to those who visit with the Lord.

“ Go to the encounter with Him in the Blessed Eucharist, go to adore Him in the churches, kneeling before the Tabernac-le: Jesus will fill you with His love and will reveal to you the thoughts of His Heart. If you listen to Him, you will feel ever more deeply the joy of belonging to His Mystical Body, the Church, which is the family of his disciples held close by the bond of unity and love.” Pope Emeritis Benedict XVI There are many opportunities to sign up for an adoration slot-or just stop by and pay a visit to our Lord and ask him for whatever you need. He’s there for you…

Please call the Beverly Catholic Collaborative Office at 978-922-0113 if you wish to sign up of a specific time slot.
