Outline of session
This session will give you the basics of setting up your presentation in Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 such as: Introduction to MS PowerPoint Inserting a new slide Manipulating Slide Layout and Slide
Design Adding Speaker notes and printing them Inserting Linguistics Objects (trees, IPA
fonts, examples etc)

Inserting a new slide
Type Ctrl-M for inserting a new slide after your current slide
Or
In PowerPoint 2007, select the HOME tab, then click on New slide button

Inserting Slide Layouts
Click on the arrow next to the NEW SLIDE button
A list of choices will appear
Select the appropriate layout (a combination of images, text boxes, smart art objects etc)

Inserting a slide design
Click on the DESIGN tab
Click on one of the themes available under the THEMES section
More templates are available under FILE > NEW
Page setup for custom slide size (e.g., poster presentation)

Adding speaker notes
Click on the VIEW tab, then select NORMAL VIEW. This should give you the standard view of working in Powerpoint.
At the bottom of your screen, there is some space for the speaker’s notes.
These notes cannot be viewed by your audience when you present your slideshow, so you will need to print them to read from them
Click on the VIEW tab, then select NOTES VIEW. This will get you to the speaker notes view, where you can edit your notes more comfortably and print your notes
