• His name was Digenis Akritas (Two-Blood Border Lord, he was of both Greek and Arab blood)

• He was in Kyrenia one day, and the Arabs were planning a raid on Pafos, so he picked up large boulders and threw them all the way to Pafos to stop the invasion

• A specific peak in the Kyrenia mountains, known as Pentadaktylos (five-fingered), is where he braced himself with one hand while he threw the stones with the other
