Safety Information
5
! AttentionHigh voltage may be present even when all electrical power supplies are disconnected.
After switching off electrical power, wait at least fifteen minutes for bus circuit capacitors todischarge stored electrical energy before working on the drive or associated equipment.Use an appropriate voltmeter to further verify that the capacitors have fully dischargedbefore beginning work. Do not rely exclusively on the bus voltage indicator. Dangerous
voltage levels may remain even when the indicator is off.
! AttentionHigh voltage may be present at the motor output terminals whenever input power isapplied or bus voltage is present whether the motor is moving or not.
! AttentionIf an aluminum electrolytic capacitor is the drive fails from a build-up of internal pressure, the case of the capacitor may rupture or the safety vent will operate spraying electrolyteliquid and/or vapor from the capacitor. If a capacitor ruptures or vent:
Avoid contact with the liquid
Avoid inhaling the vapors and ventilate the area
If your skin comes in contact with the electrolyte, flush it immediately with coldwater
If electrolyte gets in your eyes, immediately remove any contact lenses and flushthe open eyes with plenty of clean water
If electrolyte is ingested, dilute it by drinking warm water and seek immediatemedical attention
! AttentionBefore energizing the motor, verify that there are no loose components associated withthe drive or drive train and that the motor motion will not result in injury or death topersons or damage to the system equipment.
! Attention
The drive may be sensitive to electrostatic discharge. Static precautions are requiredwhen servicing or repairing the unit.
1.5 Application Precautions
! AttentionAn incorrectly installed or operated drive can result in damage to the equipment it controls.Make certain installation and operating specifications are followed.
! AttentionEmergency stop devices shall be located at each operator control station and at other
operating stations where emergency stop may be required. Control inputs do notgenerate an emergency stop of the motor and do not remove power that can causehazardous conditions. Regardless of the operating state, the drives motor outputterminals may be at dangerous voltage levels whenever input power is applied or the busis charged.
! AttentionWhen serial communications connections are made to the drive, the operation of thedrive, motor and system equipment may be started, changed and/or stopped at any timein response to the commands received by the drive from a remote serial device. When

such serially commanded operation could cause personal injury or death or damage to thesystem equipment, personnel on site shall remove serial connections to the drive toprevent receipt of serially generated operational commands.
! AttentionThe drive is may start automatically when power is applied or after a fault trip if the auto-restart functionality has been enabled. The auto-restart functionality must not be enabledwhen hazardous conditions might arise from such action.
1.6 Safe Service Practices Follow industry-recognized safety practices, including, but not limited to:
Use only one hand to hold test equipment probes
Wear approved eye, foot, body and head protection
Stand on insulated material
Use an isolated oscilloscope
Keep unnecessary personnel out of the work area
Never leave a drive enclosure open or unattended

7 Generator State
7.1 OverviewThis section describes the states of the ECU. Values for generator stateinclude:
ENG RUN FLT The controller will not request that the engine start. The ECU is in a fault state.
Conditions:
State = BUS CHARGED, ENGINE WARMING, ENGINE RAMP SPDor ENGINE RUN
and ECU Faulted goes TRUE or ENGINE RUNNING is FALSE.
To clear the fault condition, use one of the following:
Press [Fn] [0] at the keypad.
Turn the Pump switch to the OFF position.
Set remote run enableto DISABLE.
To restart from the fault condition, use one of the following:
Turn the Pump switch to the HAND or AUTO position.
Set remote run enablethen back to ENABLE.
Auto-Restarts: If both the Pump and Engine switches are in the AUTO position, restart attemptsis non-zero and eng fault restart delayis non-zero,generatorstatewill advance to ENG FLT RESTART.
Engine Run Enable = FALSE
ENG START FLT The controller will not request that the engine start. The ECU is in a fault state.
Conditions:
State = WAIT ENG START for 1 minute or
CHARGING BUS for 1 minute
and engine start flt count = 4
engine start flt countincrements each time Engine Run Enable goes
TRUE.To clear the fault condition and controller fault, use one of the following:
Press [Fn] [0] at the keypad.
Turn the Pump switch to the OFF position.
Set remote run enableto DISABLE.
To restart from the fault condition, use one of the following:
Turn the Pump switch to the Hand or Auto position.
Set remote run enablethen back to ENABLE.
Auto-Restarts: If both the Pump and Engine switches are in the AUTO position, restart attemptsis non-zero and eng fault restart delayis non-zero,generatorstatewill advance to ENG FLT RESTART.
Engine Run Enable = FALSE.
ENG FLT RESTART Will remain in this state for eng fault restart delay.
Proceeds to ECU OFF state:
When eng fault restart delay expires.
Engine Run Enable = FALSE.

Generator State
21
ECU OFF Will remain in this state for at least 5 seconds.
Proceeds to ECU BOOT state:
If the Controller OFF/RUN switch is in or moved to the RUN position.
-OR-
generator control = CONTINUOUS
Engine Run Enable = FALSE.
ECU BOOT Allow 5 seconds for the ECU to power up.
Engine Run Enable = FALSE
WAIT ENG START Will remain in this state for at least 5 seconds.
Proceeds to CHARGING BUS state once Engine Running is TRUE.
Proceeds to ENG START FLT state once Engine Running is not true after 1minute.
Engine Run Enable = TRUE.
engine speed req= ecu DAC min rpm
Motor is OFF.
CHARGING BUS Will remain in this state for at least 5 seconds.
Proceeds to BUS CHARGED state once vsd bus voltageis above 300 volts rms.
Proceeds to ENG START FLT state once Engine Running is not true after 1minute.
Engine Run Enable = TRUE.
engine speed req= ecu DAC min rpm.
Engine is ON.
Motor is OFF.
BUS CHARGED Will remain in this state for at least 5 seconds.
The VSD bus is charged.
Proceeds to ENGINE WARMING, ENGINE RAMP SPD or ENGINE RUN.
Engine Run Enable = TRUE.
engine speed req= ecu DAC min rpm.
Engine is ON.
Motor is OFF.
ENGINE WARMING If engine temp sourceis not DISABLED, while engine temp value < engine tempwarmup. Once engine temp value > engine temp warmupthen engine warm updelaywill begin.
Waiting for engine warm up delayto expire.
Proceeds to ENGINE RAMP SPD or ENGINE RUN.
Engine Run Enable = TRUE.
engine speed req= ecu DAC min rpm.
Engine is ON.
Motor is OFF.
ENGINE RAMP SPD Waiting for engine to ramp up to speed, using engine speed ramptime.
Proceeds to ENGINE RUN.
Engine Run Enable = TRUE.
engine speed reqramps to set point selected in engine speed source.
Engine is ON.
Motor is OFF.
