SECURITY:
Honolulu International Airport is a Category X airport that
continues to enhance its security measures. Projects currently
underway for implementation in 2004 include:
100% screening of checked baggage by advanced ExplosiveDetection System (EDS). The In-Line EDS protocol will befully integrated with the baggage system.
Six additional checkpoint security lanes to be added forefficient passenger screening and better customer service by
reducing wait times.
Reconfiguration of all existing security checkpoints toconform to the TSA Strategic Airport Security Rollout Effort
SASR-II model for more efficient screening of passengers.
EDS equipment and facility dedicated to handling cruise ship
passengers.
