2DAY

THURSDAY JUNE 30 (BLD)After a great time in “The Alice”,

SATURDAY & SUNDAY JULY 2 & JULY 3 (BLD)These days are sure to be 2 days of memorable sightseeing within the Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park. Commence our first days activity with a visit to the Uluru Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre

operated by the Anangu people the traditional owners of Uluru. The centre consists of 2 buildings shaped to represent the ancestral snakes of Kuniya and Liru. Learn about the culture and Tjukurpa (Aboriginal Law) of the Anangu. Inspect the Makuru Arts and Crafts Gallery where you can purchase original artifacts from the aboriginals. Our afternoon touring continues with a leisurely drive around the base of Uluru where we will point out a number of interesting features of the monolith including a leisurely walking tour of the Mutijulu Waterhole. During the course of the day, time will also be available for optional flights over Ayers Rock and the Olgas. The second day of touring includes a short journey to the Olgas, known to the aboriginals as Kata Tjuta (meaning many heads). On arrival, the size and grandeur of these 36 massive domes will impress you. These ancient, weather-beaten mountains, covering an area of 3500 hectares, are far larger and just as imposing as Uluru. An exciting 2 hour walk into the “Valley of the Winds” will see you dwarfed by the near vertical walls of the domes. From the lookout you can gaze down the central valley of Kata Tjuta. These 2 days are truly a unique experience of the Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park.

FRIDAY JULY 1(BLD)An early start today will be rewarded with the morning

climb to the top of the canyon rim with spectacular views. Red sandstone walls plunge into lush vegetation and natural rock pools. View the “Garden of Eden” and the domes of “The Lost City”. After lunch travel through the red sandhill country on Angas Downs Station on our way to Ayers Rock. Opportunity tonight to photograph the many colour changes of the Rock at sunset. 1DAY

TUESDAY JUNE 28 (BLD)This remarkable tour of the town of Alice Springs covers many interesting highlights. These include the original waterhole - “The Alice Springs”, at the very historic Old Telegraph Station. We also visit the Royal Flying Doctor

Service and learn fully how this marvellous facility operates to provide a “Mantle of Safety” to the people of the Outback. The Royal Flying Doctor Service began in 1912 when the Rev. John Flynn went to the outback as an inland missionary for the Presbyterian Church. See how routine medical clinics are provided to isolated outback areas. Next we visit the Alice Springs Reptile Park located right across the road. We also take in a panoramic view of Alice Springs from Anzac Hill Lookout. From the top one can see over the modern Alice Springs township and beyond to the MacDonnell Ranges that form a southern boundary to the town. Early afternoon visit the new and exciting Alice Springs Desert Park. Beginning your desert journey at the Exhibition Centre, provides an exciting introduction to the natural wonders of the inland. A 17 x 6 metre window on the stunning MacDonnell Ranges transforms into a giant movie screen, where a spectacular twenty minute cinematic journey brings you up to date with four and a half billion years of desert evolution. A series of interactive displays demonstrate the relationships between the plants, animals and people of the desert. Experience, close up, the majesty of the wedge-tailed eagle and other desert birds of prey, free flying in the Nature Theatre.

3DAY

WEDNESDAY JUNE 29(BLD)Our touring of Alice

Springs continues as we travel to picturesque Ormiston Gorge with the opportunity to swim in the cool waters of the waterhole, a great spot to enjoy our lunch.
