Arriving at theplace, they found him dead, with the banana freelyin^ across his body.

- Oct. 16 - Lucas Kipriano, a Mangarevan, 9 years old. He wasbrought a baby to this island for his health, as hewas very sickly. He grew quite robust, and was inactive health when he was suddenly killed by anawful fall from the rocks, a distance of 90 feet, hisfoot having slipped, while chasing goats. His instantaneous death was caused by a fearful gash in thes ku 1 1 .
