Day 2 Negombo – Pinnawela – Dambulla (Approx 3.5 hrs) (B/L/D) Today, visit Pinnawela Elephant Orphange, established in 1975 to house the abandoned and the wounded elephants. Thereafter, proceed to Dambulla and explore Dambulla Cave Temple, which dates back to 100BC, located on a vast isolated rock mass that is 500 feet high and 5280 feet wide at the base. Day 3 Dambulla – Sigiriya – Habarana – Dambulla (B/L/D) After breakfast, proceed to Sigiriya and head to Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a 5th century fortress in the sky that is perhaps the most fantastic natural wonder on the island. In the evening, head to Habarana for an elephant-back ride. After that, return to Dambulla for your overnight stay. Day 4 Dambulla – Kandy (Approx 2 hrs) (B/L/D) Today, proceed to Kandy. Upon arrival, visit the Spice Garden at Matale, where you can see lush spice plants such as cinnamaon, cardamon and pepper. In the afternoon, embark on Kandy city tour, which include Upper Lake Drive, Market Square, Kandyan Arts and Crafts Industrial Centre, a gem factory and Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic houses the tooth of Buddha that was brought to Sri Lanka in the 4th century and is considered the country’s most prized possession. Day 5 Kandy – Nuwara Eliya (B/L/D) This morning, transfer to the railway station for your Expo Rail compartment journey to Nuwara Eliya, known as Sri Lanka’s “Little England”. It is set against a beautiful backdrop of mountains , valleys, waterfalls, and tea plantations. It is one of the coldest places in Sri Lanka, and the weather is reminiscent of springtime in England. Upon arrival, visit a tea plantation and factory where you can see how tea leaves are being processed into the famous Ceylon tea. Note: One hand luggage can be taken onboard the train to Nuwara Eliya. Your main suitcase will be transferred by the coach captain. Day 6 Nuwara Eliya – Yala National Park (Approx 4 hrs) (B/L/D) Today, depart for Yala National Park. Upon arrival, embark on a guided game drive of this national park which has a very high concentration of leopards. Other animals that can be spotted are deer, elephants, sloth bears, black-naped hares, jackals, ruddy mongooses, water buffaloes, sambars and wild pigs. Day 7 Yala National Park – Weligama – Galle (Approx 3.5 hrs) (B/L/D) After breakfast, proceed to Weligama beach to witness stilt fishermen who individually perched on a cross bar of a single wooden pole planted into the sea-bed. Then, proceed to Galle, Sri Lanka’s most perfectly preserved colonial townscape with sedate streets of charming Dutch villas enclosed by a chain of imposing ramparts. Catch a glimpse of the magnificent Dutch Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site before transferring to your hotel. Day 8 Galle – Kosgoda – Colombo (Approx 2 hrs) (B/L/D) After breakfast, free at leisure in the morning. You may want to visit the beach or join an optional tour that set off early in the morning for a Mirissa boat tour to view the amazing and vast blue whales at your own expense. This afteroon, visit the Kosgoda Sea Turtle Conservation Project site to see the turtle hatchery and observe various types of turtles that have been rescued. Thereafter, travel back to Colombo. Note: Mirissa whale-watching boat tour is available from November to April. Day 9 Colombo Q Singapore (B/L/Sri Lankan Crab Dinner) Today, embark on a city tour of Colombo. Drive through the city and pass Cinnamon Gardens, a tree-lined residential area, before arriving at Colombo Fort and Pettah, the city’s commercial area where you can do some shopping. Then, proceed to Hindu Temple situated along Sea Street, a throughfare that is lined with goldsmith shops and the Dutch Church at Wolvendaal that dates back to 1749. Continue to visit historic Dewatagaha Mosque, Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall, Replica of Avukana Buddha and Independence Square. Spend some time shopping at ODEL and Barefoot at the old Dutch Hospital, a shopping and dining precinct. After dinner, return to the Dutch Hospital for a drink at the cafe or enjoy a spa session at your own expense, before transferring to airport for your flight home. Day 10 Singapore Home sweet home.
