An adjourned regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was held this date and was called to order by the President at 5!15 P.M. The following members answered roll call: Trustees Fitzhugh, Gilbert, stone and Proctor. Absent, Trustee Smith.

On motion of Trustee stone, duly seconded and carried, the regular order of business was dispensed with.

On motion of Trustee stone, seconded by Trustee lfitzhugh, and a roll call vote, the following resolution was adopted,

RESOLUTION NO. 37

A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY o:B' TORRANCE, REPEALING RESOLUTIONS NmmERED 25, 27, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, HERETOFORE PASSED BY SAID BOARD Oll' TRUSTEES.

RESOLVED: By the Board of Trustees of the City of ~orrance, that resolutions numbered 25, 27, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, of this Board of Trus­tees, heretofore passed and adopted, be and the same are hereby rescind­ed and repealed.

RESOLVED: That the City Engineer of the City of 'i:orrance be, and he is hereby instructed to file with this Board of Trustees, an estimate of the cost of improving portions of the following named· streets as out­line.d below:

Arlington Avenue for twenty (20) feet of the width thereof from Southern boundary of the City of Torrance to the South­erly curb line of Plaza 1)el Arno, known as Lot $-4, Torrance Tract, and for twenty five (.25) feet of the width thereof from the said southerly curb line of 1:'1aza Del Amo to the southerly line of Carson street and alleys between said limits.

Carson Street for ten (10) feet of the width thereof from the western boundary of the City of Torrance to the Southerly pro­longation of the line between lots 13 and 14 of Block 52 of Torrance J:ract across said Carson street, including the inter­sections of all intersectiI].gstreets and alleys between said limits.

That the estimated cost of said m.unicipal improvement, to-wit: the acquisition, construction and coml?letion'ofsaid street work upon and along saUl streets, is the sum of .J54,OOO.OO; that the said estimated cost of said municipal improvement is and will be too great to be paid out of the ordinary income and revenue of the said City of Torrance.

The City Clerk Shall certify to the passage of this resolution by a vote of more than two-thirds of the Board of Trustees of said City of Torranee.

BE IT RESOLVED AND DETERMINED by the Board of Trustees of the City of Torrance:

1st. That the public interest and necessity require and demand the acquisition, construction and completion of a certain municipal im­provement necessary and convenient to carry out the objects, purposes, and powers of said City of Torrance, to:-wit; the acquisition of land for the purpose of erecting and completing thereon a sewage Disposal System, including the acquisition and construction of buildings, struct­ures, pumps, reservoirs and other works necessary therefor; that the estimated cost of said municipal improvement is the sum of $50,000; and that said estimated cost is and will be too great to be paid out of the ordinary annual income and revenue of said City of Torrance.

The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this resolution by a vote of more than two-thirds of the Board of Trustees of said City of Torrance.

The grading of Carson street for thirteen (13) feet on each side of the center line thereof from the western Boundary of the city of Torrance to the extension across said street of the line be-tween lots 13 and 14 of Block 52, Torrance Tract, including the intersections of all intersecting streets and alleys between said limits, and the paving of said street for five (5) feet on each

RESOLVED: That the City Attorney be and he is hereby instructed to prepare and submit to this Board of Trustees an ordinance qalling an election to be held on the lOth day of April, 1922, for obtairiing a vote of the electors on the proposition of' issuance and sale ,k:lf bonds for the purchasing of land for a Sewage Disposal System for.the City of Torrance, and for the paving of portions of Carson street and Arlington Avenue, and re-surfacing portions of Arlington Avenue, Carson street, Marcelina Avenue and El Prado. '

Trustee Gilbert advised the Board that the chamber of commerce wished to know What the Board of Trustees would charge them'as rent for office space, the original proposition not being accepted, he al'80 ad~ vised that there was no janitor service in connection with the room, but that by paying ~25.00 rent, janitor service would be furnished, and made the following motion, that the Board of 'i:rustees pay w25.OO per month for rent of room, to include janitor service, and that the Board SUb-let to the Chamber of commerce, use of the room and furnishings, for which the , Chamber of Commerce are to provide light, heat and telephone.
